A Very Hooking Pilot
Really nice pilot here Ben Spurgin I only wish we could have seen the final one. The storyline is quite epic and funny at the same time with the average Newgrounds viewer fed up with countless numbers of stickmen submissions so he launches Stick Slayer into the portal. There were some quite epic scenes here like him launching into crowds of stickmen, I also really liked the music tracks here that was well done and added all the more epicness into the movie man. The timing was also very nice it was very long for a movie without dialogue.
I really wish the introduction to the Stick Slayer series could have included voice acting or at least dialogue or something to give Stick Slayer more of a personality of some sort, as well as his character design having much more effort put into it.
A great flash, wish there was dialogue or a better character design but this is an instant classic rest in piece Ben Spurgin you were an excellent flash artist and human being.
This basically an excuse to have a stick animation movie with all the violence that entails, without it just being that. The Stick Slayer himself so far isnt so much a character as a violence machine, plowing through all in his path with his trusty pencil eraser (which looks slightly risque in the loading screen!)
The irony of this being called The Final Battle considering its the first episode in a series is not lost on me, and I find this pretty amusing too. It'll be interesting to see how this develops as the series progresses as right now its pretty rough, but with a bit of polish could easily be better. Getting some voice animation in instead of the clunky speech bubbles you need to click through to progress and some smoother musical cuts is probably the first thing that needs remedied.
I look forward to seeing more of this!
Rip Ben. Hope he gets high in the sky.
