The jump is sluggish.
The controlls for jump and shoot were inverted (as per industry standart9.
Add "up" as jumpoption.
Please dont use ZXC - because only one half of the world uses that keyboard. The other half uses YXC. Use ASD or so. French still will hate it though xD.
Nice basis for a game. Have seen worse.

this is great start....but it needs more...score..aiming..jump animations..etc. But i'm actually trying to build a plat former myself...did you use any tutorials for this game??....if so can you share the links!!

When I saw the thumbnail, I wasn't too optimistic as I resent the Stencyl Run and Gun kit with a passion do to it's awful controls, and sadly, this is no exception. It is not entirely games420's fault at all, but the kit itself is AWFUL. To the author, this has no extra creativity at all. Doing a copy-paste with any of the kits, let alone the worst one (aside from the Book one which is entirely pointless so it doesn't count), and just sticking blocks on is just lazy. I find if you added an 8 way shot, improved the slippery character (which is a LOT easier than adding an 8 way shot), adding some music etc. would really improve this. I used the Platforming kit to make a good Super Mario game (which unfortunately is no longer up) by using the kit as a basis and not doing a straight up copy. I'm not hating on you, as I think you can do a lot better with more effort. Please take this into consideration if you make a new game as I bet an original game would be better than the standard kits. If you are no good at making sprites or music, Stencylforge is your best friend.

Nice game, simple style and at least to me, a some what strange controll sceme, but I gues with a proper keyboerd, meaning one where the z-button is located next to x and c it would be rather good.
