WW2 Weapons 2008-02-09 12:42:49

Years of Call of Duty and Medal of Honor have left me with the knowledge to reload old weapons.

Is there anyone out there who thinks that, if i tossed a WW2 weapon to them, they could reload it and fire it in about 5 seconds?

You know, there is a difference between Games and Reality.

If they had pellet guns in WW2 then yes I could.

I think it could take me maybe 15 seconds. I've never handled one before, but I've seen a lot of stuff on guns on the history channel and what not.

What can a thoughtful man hope for mankind on Earth, given the experience of the past million years? Nothing

None of you frail nerds could even gather the strength to lift a gun, let alone muster the brain power to reload it.

You can't reload a weapon with ammunition you don't have.

Well, the knowledge ive aquired from shooting so many guns says no. Ive shot guns similar to those you may see in first person shooters set in a modern time. But i still have to have somebody show me.

You see people reload shotguns all the time on t.v. and on some video games right? Well... i was using a pump action 20 gauge winchester and i couldn't load it, i had to have my brother-in-law show me... You have to push down on a little button type of thing to put it in there... and then to put one in the chamber the FIRST time you have to push a little button thats hard to see and pump it.... after that you can just pump the shotgun after every shot. Until it runs out of ammo.

So from JUST playing video games most of you are probably not going to able to reload the gun. And the ones who can have previous experience with other guns that may be similar.

That MP40, I could load it.
Step 1: Pull back bolt till it locks
Step 2: Pull on clip till it releases.
Step 3: Insert new clip until it locks.
Step 4: Push bolt forward.
Step 5: Cap Nazi scum.

Yes, I have fired my mom's .303, .22, 12 guage. I have seen a real AK-47 quite popular for the hics out in nova scotia, fired my friend's 12 round clip(Dual feed) fed .22 So yes I could, I'm sure it's not as easy as it would seem with weapons I have never touched, but I know how for a lot of weapons, and if I didn't know for a weapon I'm sure it wouldn't take me to long to find out.

Nope. After a 20-30 second examination I'd probably figure it out though.

Probably i could.... in boyscouts we were shooting off MP 44's and M1 Garands at a bunch of clay pigeons about 200 yards off... u wouldnt believe the power some of those old weapons have.... We also fired blanks off of a WW1 Water cooled machine gun, it bucked like a beast... we practiced reloading and firing so that was 2 years ago though im not sure i could but for most of the WWII guns i could easily do it in under half a minute

Hahahahaha! Really? Living in your parents basement playing video games makes you an expert on Wehrmacht weaponry?
My father was a class III gun shop owner with an eye for WW II weapons. Wehrmacht in particular, but not to the exclusion of all axis weapons.

As his son, I become somewhat of an expert and collector myself. Further, as a career infantry soldier and weapons expert, I doubt that there are many weapons I could not operate. To include primitive breech loaders. The weapon you display, the German MP-40 or as it's more inaccurately known, the "schmeiser" (because of the magazine makers stamp on the bottom of the weapons magazine) is in fact quite easy to operate. I, however, doubt a video game enthusiast would be able to load, fire accurately, and field strip for cleaning, this remarkable weapon.

WW2 weapons are easy, but WW 1 guns are hard mode.

If WW2 started today, most nations would not be able to recruit enough fit soldiers.
