Maybe I'd buy some of those new songs now if I hadn't just gotten the RED RINGS OF DEATH a few hours ago :'(

I have to listen to those songs before I think of considering getting that... of course I normally just get the content before I buy it. Like Action by Sweet. I thought it'd another squeaky song but it was pretty cool.
This pack would be pretty intense on all four fronts. Fuck up the drummer, hurt the fingers of the bassist and guitarist, and I don't want to think about the vocalist.

March 11
Bad Company: Shooting Star (COVER)

Fuck Yes.

Lynyrd Skynyrd: Simple Man

Double Fuck Yes.

The Police: Message in a Bottle

Triple... wait this was in Guitar Hero 2. Ah well at least the drums will be fun.

March 18 - NIN Pack (FUCKING WINTASTIC)
Nine Inch Nails: March of the Pigs
Nine Inch Nails: The Collector
Nine Inch Nails: The Perfect Drug

This will just be fucking incredible. I don't care what anyone says, this will fucking rule.

March 25 - Metal Pack
Iron Maiden: Wrathchild (COVER)

I barely played Rocks the 80s so this will sort of be new.

Black Sabbath: Supernaut (COVER)

Another cover... they need to give us a Crazy Train master to make up for these Ozzy impersonators.

Metallica: Fuel

Probably the only good song post-Black Album, and that's saying A LOT.

with the March lineup being announced, and nothing said about DLC in February, i think an album might be released next month. fingers crossed.

*Hopes Who's Next comes out in February*

Is Siva by Smashing Pumpkins that one that's really freakyto listen to through headphones? I seem to remember turning it up for the quiet bit, then getting my ears blown off. I remember it being good though.

If there's not already, I'd like to see some REM, for the soft rockers :)

It seems the songs from 30 Seconds to Mars, All American Rejects, and The Sounds that were originally 80 Points have gone up to the normal 160 Point Price.

Reason: They were released on Christmas. It was only for a limited time.

So how much is the downloadable content, and how much do you get for it?

I remember people paying $5-10 for only a few songs on guitar hero. I've thought about getting Rockband, but I'm more into FPS and RTS =/

If you like classic rock, then stay with Guitar hero.

If you like more modern stuff, and if you somehow have friends, then go with Rockband

Most of my friends don't play console games any more, so I either play comp games with them, or just go hang with them. The newgrounds people I know all like to play CoD4 at the moment. That, and I'm a much bigger fan of multiplayer games. Sure, rockband has the feature, but it's not gonna be as good as playing with 16-18 people.

It's 5am. I've got work. I'm goin to bed.

I am not buying it until all of Who's Next is on it.
Also, why don't the put the real epic song by Iron Maiden, Ryme Of The Aincient Mariner, on Rock Band? That song would piss off a lot of people on Expert mode, both for it's length and difficulty.

we've been sticking with stuff we like for the most part. we downloaded a few we were flipflopping about on friday. probably get a few more of the others this week.

I really hope those albums come out in the next week or two, even though they'll probably be more points...hope they aren't TOO too expensive.

i don't think they'll be outrageously priced, but like a said, they have to release one of them this month. they haven't said anything yet.

Also, I don't know if it's just me, but some of the cover bands fucking suck so much ass, it almost makes me not want to play the songs. The singing isn't even close on a few bands. I don't know why they would have Coheed and C singing Welcome Home, and then get a cover band to sing the other song. That, to me is just stupid. And from what I understand, the David Bowie tracks are abysmal.

yeah, the Bowie covers are pretty bad. same goes for Iron Maiden, Sweet, and Rush. vocally at least. Moonage Daydream though, being a master track, is fucking amazing.

Green Grass and High Tides by the Outlaws does a good enough job.

not only is it retardedly difficult, it's such a fucking long, boring song.

i'm sure you didn't mean, Molly Hatchet, one the the greatest rock bands of all time.

Green Grass and High Tides is a difficult song, but a song like Freebird is difficult and enjoyable to play.

exactly. it's such a stupid song, and it just goes on forever with the same thing over, and over again. at least Freebird mixes it up a bit throwing new riffs at you.

When I finally beat it on expert, after my initial joy wore off, I was kinda pissed that the hardest song in the game wasn't a bit more epic like.

I mean, when you compare it to Freebird in Guitar Hero 2 and the last five tracks in Guitar Hero 3, it's pretty weak.

Hell, I was pretty unimpressed with the whole final five set for the Solo Career anyway...the only song I really thought was "epic" so to speak, was Maiden. Molly Thatcher? Highway Star? Those aren't epic rock anthems, they are just difficult songs to play. The Aerosmith song too, blech, I'm just not a fan of it.

Green Grass and High Tides is a difficult song, but a song like Freebird is difficult and enjoyable to play. That's what I like to see for a final tier, regardless of the inclusions of encores.

Then you guys get my point with needing Maiden; it's a song that is great to listen to on it's own, and it has the sort of "epic" feel you want. Assuming Rock Band 2 or GH4 are unable to use Zeppelin's Dazed And Confused, Achilles Last Stand, In The Evening, or most epicly, Stairway To Heaven, you are going to need something "epic"-like that can get people to feel great to beat it on expert, and it seems that Iron Maiden happens to be the best hard rock band in doing that, though considering we haven't seen AC/DC either, I may be taking that back ;>

Really, it's just that using something like Phantom Of The Opera, To Tame A Land, Wasted Years, or Rime Of The Aincient Mariner by Iron Maiden is as epic and powerful you can go, assuming Led Zeppelin still is not used (and really, I can't blame Zeppelin, they rarely until recently gave their music out for anything, while Iron Maiden actually released a PC game back in the late 90s.)

Really, in the end, all I am saying is that we need more Tenacious D, for they are the Greatest Band On Earth; we need more youth and adults alike to bow down to Kyle Gass........

Dude, Kage is shredding so hard, his guitar is fucking melting! I'd like to see anyone else top that.

At least the bass riffs are pretty catchy.

That's really the only redeeming quality of the song that I can think of.

Roam - The B-52's
We Care A Lot - Faith No More
Calling Dr. Love - Kiss

All original tracks.

This is pretty good I guess.

I've always wondered about getting a lengthy prog rock song in Guitar Hero or Rock Band. Specifically, I'd like Karn Evil 9 by Emerson, Lake and Palmer. It's about half an hour long, but it might not be completely practical as a lengthy prog rock track, as it has a large piano bit in it.

Bit of an endurance test if anything!

Response to Rock Band New Content Thread 2008-02-05 11:16:49

My impressions of today's songs.

Roam would be the song you'd get for your girlfriend obviously.
We Care A Lot is the theme to Dirty Jobs. Nuff Said
Calling Dr. Love is nothing special really.

But being the DLC Whore I am. I'll get it when I get the points.

Today is a new pack.
The "(Arguably) Punk Pack 2"
Why is it called Arguably?

The songs are...

Complete Control by The Clash
Teenage Lobotomy by Ramones
Truth Hits Everybody by The Police (this is why people will argue).

All Masters.
This makes the third appearances from the Clash and Ramones, and the fifth appearances from The Police (with another coming next month with Message in a Bottle).
