Cool...ok how's this look? I tilted the head and torso in time with the arms.

Not good. Sorry, but have you ever seen a person walk like that?

Response to Walking animation 2003-05-30 16:44:30

good, but make the knees bend a little more it looks like hes just dragging his feet on the ground

Not bad...needs work. seems when the one leg that extends at the front, when it straightens out, pauses abit. Also...the walking....true, no one walks likw that...but I seen it done simularly...like some jive type guy...think he had his hands in his pockets...can't recall...but reminded me of that....when i saw it, it was at an angle (partually coming toward you and to the left) and the foot that extended out, was abit bigger, would jump out at you. I know that they did this on Simpsons.

thats it, thats how it should look like! now only if it didn't have that matrix looking feel to it, and actual body parts (not just #'s + letters)

Response to Walking animation 2003-05-31 14:54:32

Ok...here's version 3 of my walking test. I won't do my character til I feel I got a good model to work with (When i try different types of walking)

he looks better now.... but.... im not sure (cuz im using aol and it sux and all the animations flash and dont animate smoothly) if he is bobbin still, like moving up and down when he walks. i know ppl do this cuz well i walk and i had a 3d game make, and whenever you made a model (and tried him a game) you would bounce up a little and then down a little, so it was bobbin

Cool, but his head should be placed a little more forward(That didn't sound right, but I hope you know what I mean)

Response to Walking animation 2003-05-31 17:35:16

yea like the back of his head should be aligned with his back....like a regular person

Response to Walking animation 2003-05-31 22:58:22

If you want the bobbing effect everyone is talking about, the hips need to move up and down just slightly.

Here is an idea. Find a place where you can sit and watch people walk by. Take some time to look at each specific body part one at a time. Sit there long enough and you'll see the pattern, and how the different body parts move eachother.

Response to Walking animation 2003-05-31 23:02:58

If you look closely at your character, the upper part of his leg grows and shrinks. That won't work.

The hips should have a cirular motion. if you think about your leg from when you put it down in front of you, your hips move up in a circle as your move your body up and over the apex of that step because you keep the leg your standing on reletively straight. Then down again on the other side till you put your other foot down, then you start back up that circle again. Try it some time.
