Hello. I'd like to address the issue of censorship on Newgrounds. I think the avatars that are shown for adults only/mature films should be censored. Suppose someone under 18, or someone who doesn't want to see any adult pics is doing a general search for movies, who isn't looking for anything porn-related accidentally sees one of pornographic nature?

If your soo worried about the site, use a blocker to prevent such content or the whole website in general. Can't censor free speech like that for a PRIVATE website.

How is that censoring free speech if minors use this site?
You might want to suggest the idea here (or at least suggest that icon mods crack down on icons which are nsfw). Although in general I don't think that many of the adult submissions actually have icons that are unsuitable - most are just images of the girls faces, etc.

I've seen a number of them that show naked breasts, or some of females in sexual situations, etc.
I actually agree with you. Because sometimes I take my 5 and 3 year old cousins on NG and I use the rating system to decide what to show them.
If an icon contained adult content, they would see it no matter what... So yeah, I think icons should be suitable for all.

I have yet to see a non adult-rated flash with an adult icon anyway. Just live with it.
though for some reason if an everyone-rated flash has an adult icon, yeah, that's kinda pushing it.

If a low age rated submission had a pornographic icon for it, you could whistle it as unsuitable
Let's say you're searching for games or movies related to something like a popular kid's cartoon. There are some people who like to do deviant art. So let's say you do the search. And you find icons next to movies/games that say something like "hentai" or "porn" next to them, and the icon shows partial nudity, or something like a girl of woman getting "sprayed" in the face, or some character in a sexual position-that is not something you would want a kid to see-that should be filtered.
If people want to make pornographic movies or games, they should show an icon that doesn't depict any pornographic content, or censor or filter the icon.

I can't post anything pornongraphic here in this forum.
When you do a general search for something here, you'll get a list of entries and their icons, with all kinds of ratings-form all ages to adult. If you get an entry with an adult rating next it, and there's a pornographic icon on it, or one depicting nudity, people are going to see that. All icons should be made appropiate for all viewers, regardless of the rating of the movie or game.

I see his mistake people. He is confusing the portal rules with the BBS rules. That link I just gave you is for the bbs (forum) rules. Read the faq, completely and that should clear up any basic questions that you have.

Read my post again. I was reffering to the offending Icons. Not the rules. I know the rules.
Now that a link has been provided to the Evolution thread, this one has passed it's expirary date.
The NG rules are in place to stop people putting NSFW material (without relevant warnings) on various parts of the site where it isn't welcome. Being a site which doesn't monitor all content before it is made publically viewable, some things slip through, such as links to meat spin in sigs and pornographic flash submissions.
If you are in the situation where you will be executed in a painful fashion after being tortured for 54 days for allowing a nude breast to grace your computer screen, you should probably just avoid coming to Newgrounds altogether, just to be on the safe side.
You should maybe even consider just skipping the internet full stop.

We have icon moderators on this site. They are given the grave task of eliminating troublesome icons.
Also, I severely doubt a 3 year old (and even a 5 year old) would be able to recognise whats going on in a tiny NSFW submission icon; and if they could, then it's probably too late to be worrying about your involvement in their moral downfall.
