James is working on a review system for the Audio Portal, so you can actually write reviews for the loops you download. As far as score criteria, does anyone have suggestions?
We COULD just have a single score, so for example, you might give a submission a score of "8" along with a written review. However, if there are more specific qualities that you would like to give individual scores to, please let us know now!

i came with the idea for audio reviews
nifty. im not in the audio portal much but ill make sure to go there more often.
A single score would make sense. Also would be helpful to be able to blam audio portal entries if they're pretty terrible.
hmm make a review on something that has to do with the melody or harmony or something, like does it havea a catchy beat.
How about a link to submitted flash that the sound has been used on.
I dont think there are many things that you could really fit into review criterion..How about some things like ability to loop, the general flow of the song, quality of the sounds used, or even how much it fits into the genre that it was submitted to?

I dont care for the audio portal here... but oh well...
you could have points for how well it would fit into a movie such as an action scene, suspense, etc.

We've been planning to have reviews for the audio section since the release of the Audio Portal. It's not a new idea!

I think there should be some batting average for the audio portal.. In your profile.
newgrounds need some porn add blockers, man my mom walked in and now shes all like this sites porn so i had to write this at my friends, and the porn adds made peple who used to come here and donate not come anymore so you know its scaring people away

Hrmm...
Here are some possible categories:
Versatility: the range of movies/games the song may fit.
Style: self-explanatory
Quality: the amount of effort it seems was put into the song/loop.
Mood: how well the song sets its corresponding atmosphere.
That's all I can come up with in the mean time. Any other ideas, anyone?
My idea> 2 scores: 1st: audio portal quality. 2d: popularity
1: The Audio Portal should set the score of the quality (xx bpm and xx kHz etc.)
2: I think people should be able to vote if they want it or not, so it will get a popularity score...

That's what I was going to suggest.
Originality and Quality are ideal catergories. Versatility is a good one as well.
Also, you might not want to go with a rank, but a scale. I.E.:
1 ................................. 10
Versatile .............. Specific
High Quality ........... Compressed
Loopable ............... Full Score
Original ............... Remix/Popular/Recognized
It wouldn't be too difficult to grade, and it'd be easier to find what you're looking for.

Innovation could be a criteria, and loop skill.
To me, it doesn't matter !!! But it's a good thing to leave a review for the music so the artist could improve and make a better music next time !!!
Some of these have been mentioned, but I'll repeat for my own sake :)
Originality - is it original?
Diversity - Is the song a single melody over and over, or is it more interesting?
Loopability - easiness to loop
Flow - does the song flow nicely (ie, are not sudden changes(not nessecarily a bad thing))
Mood - this one is more scalar: 0-tranquil, 10-hardcore
Emotion - does the music create an atmosphere, or is it mostly just something to listen to
Those are just my opinions. If some of those are incoporated, it could make the audio portal a lot easier to search if you could tie those into an audio search (hint hint) (Please?)

one overall score would probably be best, but, there's a difference between how good the sound is, and the sound so that might be good to rate

I know this really isnt an idea but id like to see the audio portal grow as large as the normal portal, itd be really great if it had the same sort of system i think the audio portal would grow larger if you had a space on the homepage for audio and if you had awards like daily feature

naw, i think you should just keep it the way it is, i mean, its great now. more specifics would b cool too, but dont make it just one score!!! A bigger variety of scoring fields makes it lots more fun.
