"Americanizing" Words 2007-02-12 15:26:51

Why is it that us americans have to ruin alot of things?
I'm American and proud, but come on.
It's not favorite. It's favourite. Same with colour, honour, and so on.
There are probobally only 1 out of a million americans that spell things correct.
The english created the language. I think they know how to spell it.

I only use that one sometimes.
That's really, REALLY hard to get used to.
I just recently (within the past 2 months) started hating the way I was spelling things, then I remembered the "biscuit" thing, but couldn't get used to it.

Yeah, we really "ruined" those words. I mean, they were such great words, and we defiled them. Bad us, bad!

The English have made a bloody mess of their own language too.
Canadian English is where it's at.

In all fairness, I prefer writing Jail as opposed to Gaol.

The omission of the letter 'u' ruins the word? You certainly have some high standards.

Eh, that's not the only "U" related problem: replacing "ough" with "u", as much sense as that may make, for instance.

Gaol is the 'official' way of spelling the word in the UK, Australia and many other English-speaking countries. However, more people nowadays tend to spell it jail as this is easier.

That, and snappy advertising. What do I know though?

I'm liking the archaic English you got going on there. I see you're using the old letters edh (ð), thorn (þ) and ash (æ).

Lolwut? You bothered to look that up and or translate it?

And this guy is a dick. We changed it for one thing, to be different from the British, and second, when the fuck does th "U" come into place?

I think it's really the official official spelling, not really used, i think. I know I've seen the word Nought. Of the spelling, I prefer doughnut, really.

Oh. Nought means like, none or zero. Or like... lost.
