News Flash by Tom (2 weeks from now): The site re-design is now .495% complete.
Great game.
The rumor of updating on Nov. 15 got me all hyped and pissed me off that it didn't because that was my birthday which would have been awesome. Great job the the NG BBS team.

I really can't give him enough praise, he's helped me first hand with PHP/MySQL and he's the best at it that I've ever seen.
Thanks for the praise, but I couldn't (or wouldn't) claim to know "everything there is to know about PHP and MySQL". Every day is still a learning curve for me, I think most programmers (unless they're truly delusional as to their own knowledge) are probably in the same boat. That curve peters off as you work through different situations, but I'm sure it still exists for everyone who works with different programming/scripting languages.
I'm extremely happy that Ross is back with Newgrounds. For a while, the work-load had been so great that I'd not had the chance to learn new things and I'd been taking a dogmatic approach in a lot of areas, with respect to the code that drives the site as it is now (sure, it works (for the most part!), but that's not the point).
I'd like to think that I've been able to throw ideas and coding conventions at Ross as much as I've gotten back from him, but I've not been keeping up with a lot of modern practises, so that might not be the case. :)
Some of the stuff Ross has been working on will (hopefully) amaze you.

No, we have a virtual machine, which mimicks old data on the site. This machine is not in the webfarm that users get to whenever they visit a page on the site.

Ross and James are programming around the clock to make all the dynamic features functional and we're planning to add some more web servers for improved performance.
So we have to wait 2 months for the bloody redesign? Fucking hell, I'll be halfway to Lvl 10 and you're gonna reset me... Damn this redesign to hell... Only 1% more... You keep saying, oh it's almost done, it's almost done. Quite frankly, just post when it's fucking finished...

That's great to hear. I'm sure Ross is an awesome programmer also, I just haven't had a first hand chance to talk to him.

Can't wait :) I got excited when I first saw the AJAX login because I was hoping it would be an indication of things to come with the redesign. But I'm definitely looking forward to the technical aspect of the redesign probably as much, or even more than the actual look.

I think he's talking about the new level icons.
Somehow it means raising or lowering of peoples current levels, I'm not sure which.

Firstly, the levels aren't going to be lowered (I wouldn't have thought and, unless I'm mistaken, there's never been a definitive answer on that stuff)).
Secondly, I'm not sure whether they'll be raised, either. It's a whole grey area that hasn't really been addressed (and resolved) internally (as in between the staff).... Yet. So maybe he's going off of hearsay?

Yeah, maybe.
I remember seeing a post made by Tom, he posted examples of some of the new icons and their new aura colours.
There was a brief mention, but not really a lot to go on. I guess we'll all just have to wait and see.
I can't wait

I can't imagine that they'd be reset... So I wouldn't worry about that.
I can't wait
I really hope we're not going to disappoint people with this stuff, it's been hyped up so much. :)
Oh I was busy digging through Toms posts for the post I found before (Sorry Tom)
to quote Tom:
To answer all the PMs I've been getting for the past few weeks...
1) Yes, there will be 60 level icons. The current levels will be adjusted to cover the spread from 1-60 instead of 1-30, with the current level 30 becoming level 60.
2) As for the aura colors, you can see the answer here:
It's all exciting stuff >: )
and they look very pretty too ;)

I didnt mean to offend you. Sorry for making a joke, I wont do it again.

oh man! That would be out of control! People will cry...
I think many people prefer to see the new level icons than the rest of the redesign.

Right, but I think this is something that got brought up in recent discussions (and might make the point about spreading the levels moot). We'll see. :)

Apology accepted, sarcasm is well, impossible to detect over the internet.

Some things are more easily detected than others (without having to read into a person's post history). :)
Was that sarcastic? Guess I'll have to look up your post history.
yea.. I finally got a registered name for Quadradius. I am YoinK on there too. I'm 1 and 0 right now. :)

Sadly enough, I am one of those people. Can't wait for new level icons.
