Austin is easily more of a draw then those two, that's why Vince added Austin to the match, he's trying to jack it up huge so he can a) claim it drew Mania and b) make Umaga and Lashley look like big time players because there's no way they'd be involved in so big a Mania match if they weren't. The show was pretty good tonight, I popped for Foley, and thought the work was pretty good, if predictable in places, I'd like to see them throw one more ECW guy into money in the bank, and have Flair and Carlito just wrestle elsewhere on the Mania card, hope that's the route their going. If CM Punk is going to be the only ECW guy in the match, let's just flush the whole "third brand" concept down the shitter and just make this the show where Raw and SD! guys have interpromotional bouts.

I missed the first hour of Raw but what I did see was ok. I tuned in just as Foley came out so I al least caught that.

Flair and Carlito will probably have a rematch to settle it. Though it would have been better if another ECW guy was in it. Though given the choice we are presented, I'll go with Carlito.

That was not the first-ever falls count anywhere match for the Women's title. Sable had one when she was champ.

Too Cold Scorpio is at home collecting WWE paychecks. WWE signed Too Cold Scorpio last summer, and apparently, WWE creative has still yet to come up with something for him to do.

Is it really that hard to have a guy like Scorpio come out and kick some ass? Put him on ECW or something!

Mick Foley was inerviewed by IGN recently, here's the link to the interview (its 3 pages long btw)

http://sports.ign.com/articles/770/770441p1.h tml

And here's the part (parts, actually) that stood out the most to me.

IGN Sports: That really goes back to all of the backstage politics described in the book. I read where you were one of the guys who recommended CM Punk to WWE.

Mick Foley: Yeah, I think the fact that both Ricky Steamboat and I recommended Punk had a little something to do with him being hired. Obviously you have two completely different guys representing two completely different styles recommending the same guy, and I can anticipate your next question, so yeah, I do think they have dropped the ball with CM Punk.

IGN Sports: When he came out for Survivor Series, the crowd was chanting "Punk" when he was out there with some of the biggest names in the sport, and what's funny is how often you hear that storylines are dictated by what the fans want.

Mick Foley: Well, in this case, I guess the fans were overridden. I do think it's backstage politics, and I'm not there so I don't have a real answer for you, but I know that it stinks and I don't like it.

Foley also mentions about recommending Samoa Joe to the WWE. Its a pretty good interview and definitely worth reading.

I'm not sure how good that would be if the opportunity ever came up. It's getting to the point where going to the WWE is a step back career wise.

KURT ANGLE NAMED IN STEROID INVESTIGATION, LISTED AS RECEIVING TWO PRESCRIPTIONS
by Dave Scherer @ 12:36:00 PM on 3/6/2007

Sports Illustrated has a very detailed story on their website today concerning the recent allegation of steroid/HGH sales at Florida's Palm Beach Rejuvenation Center. The story initially broke last week when a number of pro athletes were listed as customers. Today, SI has added Kurt Angle to lists of people unearthed in the investigation, writing:

"Kurt Angle, a 1996 Olympic gold-medal-winning freestyle wrestler and now a star professional wrestler, received two prescriptions for trenbolone and one for nandrolone between October 2004 and February '05. (Angle did not return messages left with his spokesman.)"

Both of those drugs are steroids. As the piece mentioned, he had prescriptions ffilled for the drugs and was in WWE at the time they were filled. To read the entire piece, click here.

Let's see Angle dodge this bullet.

I'm shocked!! Wait a miute... No, I'm not.. Angle's voice has changed a lot since he started wrestling (which is suspicious in it of itself) but I'm pretty sure Angle's defense will be something along these lines. In order to deal with some of his injuries his resorted to using steroids, he's been out with injury but never for a long time and steroids tend to help in the rehabilitation process (look at HHH). Again, not really a surprise but probably the main reason why he was released.

Still, this is something which will eventually hurt Angle, look at someone like Dynamite Kid probably the greatest wrestler of all time but he couldn't stop using steroids and how he's in a wheelchair minus one leg.

Also, Bad New Brown died... RIP. He won a Bronze Medal in the 76 olympics, wrestled in Japan and in the US and had feuds with Piper and Roberts, he never got a shot at the big time due to backstage politics.... Hogan and Savage.

It would also go a bit of a ways towards some of the personality shift people have said Angle has gone through since entering the business. I had initially thought it was simply because Angle places tremendous pressure on himself to not only succeed, but overachieve, now I think there's probably a chemical component to that as well.

I wonder what TNA will do with this situation. Will they fire him, or will they just keep him off tv until all this blows over. Maybe wwe was wise to release angle when they did...

I don't see TNA releasing him for thing he did before he was employed with them, I think it's possibly going to hurt Angle's popularity in the short term, but probably not long term. Hulk Hogan admitted use of steroids during Mcmahons trial 11 or 12 years ago and look at the career he's had since then. It won't wreck Angle if he plays this correctly, like by telling the truth and blameing it on the injuries he incurred with WWE and making sure there's no evidence he's used anything since the investigation claims he did.

well, i'm surprised they didn't catch Scott Steiner using steroids if they say Kurt was on steroids.... It isn't surprising that kurt was on steroids because of his voice and all those veins that pop out when he talks.

Kurt Angle has responded to his name being included in the Sports Illustrated story regarding the bust of a steroid operation in Florida with the following letter, which was posted on www.kurtangletna.net:

The following is a statement from Kurt Angle regarding the recent Sports Illustrated media reports about the use by athletes of performance enhancing drugs obtained through the internet:

I did not improperly receive prescriptions. It is well documented that in my career I have broken vertebrae in my neck on five occasions and each time the course of treatment was under the care and supervision of my Doctors. Any attempt to link me to the athletes in the current news accounts who may have improperly sought performance-enhancing drugs is without foundation.

Better hope they can't prove in court you're lying Kurt, or it's off to jail with you most likely. Without an immunity deal, anyone who received these prescriptions I imagine will be criminally charged

Then for his sake lets hope he can prove all what he said.

I think what they are going to do is have a triple threat match next week on raw between Carlito, Flair, and Orton to see who gets the last MITB spot. I'm guessing they will probably give it to Orton, to further the eventual fued he will have with Edge. It would be nice to see Carlito in there though.

i'd hate to see Orton win.... Carlito is definitely the guy i'd want to win also. Carlito has so much potential.

At 3/8/07 12:07 PM, Outlaw88 wrote: Then for his sake lets hope he can prove all what he said.

I've looked into this a little further and from what I'm hearing Angle IS telling the truth that he had a prescription so you can't get him for criminally receiving them because his doctor prescribed them, the only issue here would be if Kurt got them, did Kurt NEED them. So this becomes a situation where Kurt can't get into legal trouble, but it could do damage to his reputation and image (which of course is something Kurt takes very seriously).

As far as MITB, my feeling is I want to see CM Punk get it because I think WWE has dropped the ball with that kid, the de-push was stupid, and they really oughtta just go to the point of "here's your guaranteed title match" and if built up right, Punk could be the first guy to then LOSE that title match, and not be harmed in the doing of it. Because while I like the MITB match, and absolutely love the concept, I think it's genius and whoever was the mastermind behind it deserves great praise because they really understand the cardinal rule of wrestling: Simple stuff, well done, is going to make a hell of a lot more money then overbooked cuteness. But at the same time, I worry the concept will get stale if the winner always wins when they cash the shot in. I think there's a way to keep the concept strong and important (like a second Royal Rumble) without the guy always windng up with a title reign out of it. But I guess it wouldn't be too bad to do that because it does work like annointing a guy as the next big thing. To me, I don't see Orton winning this, I think it's a possibility, but I think he and Edge screw each other out of the win so they have a program, and then from the ashes Mr. Kennedy gets the win. I think Kennedy is the guy they've been pushing to the top for awhile, he has problems with the guy I tend to think is going to be champion in the end (Taker) and RAW has ALWAYS won this match, so it'd be good to give SD! the win here to also show it's not just always a RAW guy that wins.

I would love to see Punk ge the win, but Kennedy is also a good choice. The cool part about the MITB match is that even the people who don't win benefit from it. They get to show off the best that can do at mania and can be considerd contenders down the road.

Thats why I like it as well. It puts the spot light on the younger members of the roster.(most of the time) I think they have a a really good line up this year, it is a fact that if the Hardys are in a ladder match it will kick ass, plus with Edge it will bring back some TLC memories. Then there are Kennedy and Punk who have great potential to the company. On top of all that there is Booker and Finlay, two amazing veterans.

Who would I like to see win? Jeff Hardy, but that won't happen so soon. Maybe in a year ot two though.

I have some Big Show news to report.

Source: PWTorch.com.

The Big Show's WWE contract finally expired a few days ago. WWE offered him a six figure "intellectual property" deal which he turned down.

He isn't expected to sign with TNA anytime soon.

Word is that he will announce his involvement with a new project sometime before summer.

Show has also lost a lot of weight since leaving WWE, mainly due to being off the road and away from restaurant indulgences and catering. He has also stopped smoking.

I didn't know he smoked. Not exactly a smart thing to be doing while in a job where cardio is so important. Good to hear that he has lost some weight. Shame he didn't get a better send off then what he got.

The man smokes like a friggin chimney from what I understand. I mean, Andre had an excuse for the problems he had, he had a medical condition beyond his control that unfortunately cut his life short and really fucked up his quality of life. Show just didn't seem to really care enough to really take care of himself, and now that he's away from the business I hope he takes better care of himself. It really seems to me from what I'm hearing that he's probably done, least for now, because now that he's off the road and out of the grind he's gotten that feeling that he likes this, and he's got enough money that he dosen't need to work again. I don't really see his send off as being too bad when you consider that it's tradition in wrestling that when you're leaving, you put the new guy over on your way out. I think the last 6 months of his career (if that's indeed what his ECW title reign turns out to be) were a fine send off for him, and cemented his legacy as someone who really contributed (and then it got flushed) and was hardcore.

apparently the name "little bastard" wasn't good enough, or maybe there were complaints. Personally I don't think the character is needed at all. Seems a bit degrading, but at least it hasn't gotten too much worse for Finley.

SD was pretty good last night. But where were the tag champs? Or Chavo and the rest of the Cruisers? SD needs that to be excellent in my view.

Benoit is going to defend the US title against MVP at mania. That should be a decent match. Course Benoit could get a decent match out of a potatoe so it kinda goes without saying really. Though MVP does have some talent so it should be good if it gets enough time.

Too bad this wrestlemanis is going to the shitter.... Stone Cold doesn't seem to be the same Stone Cold... He didn't do anything on ECW... he just interviewed the crowd and wasted time. Wasting time is usually not his style... Wasting time usually the style of those people who can't entertain.

I've heard they're going to have a couple of like tag gauntlet clusterfucks to get guys onto the show, so I figure Londrick will probably put up their tag titles in one of those (hopefully not jobbing them) it's pretty criminal to me that Londrick is verging on one of the longest tag title reigns in WWE history and they a) Don't have a proper team name, and b) WWE has done nothing to acknowledge their reign is getting towards the land of historic, that's fucking sad and disrespectful.
