i already realise i sound incredably noobish by the subject but i have never used flash before and not even seen it in the shops so which flahs should i get basically what is best for a begginer and how much does it cost? or are they all the same? if i have just made a complete idiot of myself leave the word "sneegle" somewere in your message!

Get flash 8 and take a look in the AS help here.
It depends on what you plan to do in Flash. I find Flash MX 2004 quite adequate for my needs, as I don't require the newer features in 8. I've used 8 at school, and found both versions quite similar, so I don't feel the need for an upgrade.
Check at the trial versions of at Macromedia's (now Adobe's) site: Here.
Flash usually costs around $500 (that was MX 2004 a couple years ago, I'd check now, but someones hogging my bandwidth), I suggest you check on the site.

dont do that, thats bad and it can get you in to alot of trouble. look for flash mx or something on ebay, you can find it for cheap there.

I'd suggest flash 8.
It is has added filters and most things are being developed with flash 8 now days.
You can download a 30 day trial from www.macromedia.com (or has it changed to adobe now?). See if you feel comfortable with the trial then decide wether you want to spend your hard earned cash on it.
