Dell Pentium 4 with Windows XP professional. It's very slow... even after I upgraded the hard-drive.
Well my machine boots up in 30 seconds ($800 spent) and my friend's boots up in like less than a second ($2500 spent). I've seen that with the level of customization available to PCs, and current price points, that suprisingly startling differences in price points don't change the preformance point differences in machines as drastically as one may expect.
E.G. Drop $2500 on a PC and you'll have one running a hell of a lot faster than a $1500 dollar mac, while the same isn't true in a vice-versa scenario.
