What is the musicology of trance music, i've tried to make it, but I just can't get it.
The drums are usually very simple, 4 by 4 kick drum groove pattern, clap every second beat, fills here and there with an open hi hat if you want.
The melody drives the song. If you dont have a good melody, you don't have a good trance song.
The bassline NEVER follows the melody note for note. Its always melodic, as it adds more feeling, drama, and emotion to the song as a whole.
If you wanna get a feel for the arrangment of tranec music, listen to popular trance artists (i.e. ATB) or scroll though the trance section in the AP.
The main thing you should know about trance is that it's all about melody. You can just have a simple kick every 1/4 beat and if your melody is good, your song would probably in the top 50. The melody should either consist of a chorus or a strings (that's just a recommendation. If you wanted to make a trance song with bass then go fot it).

It means that alot of trance songs go for longer than 3 minutes, thats what it means, eg Sandstorm - Darude, On The Move - Barthezz etc.
I meant nothing offensive by what I said.

I don't really see how any offense could be taken from the comment anyway.
