I definitely agree.
There will certainly be a lot of people posting some lead singer from a metal band or something lame like that, but Hendrix beats all of them.

Ahh, and I guess the best composer ever would have to be Bhetoven *sp*. He lost his hearing and was still able to compose incredibly well.
The best singer, IMHO, would be Brandon Boyd. Not because he can sing well (he can sing incredibly well btw), but because HE SOUNDS THE SAME LIVE AS HE DOES ON CD! So many singers can't do this.
I would definantly say Hendrix. My vote for best bassist would go to Flea from the red hot chili peppers

Hendrix had hardly any tone. He was inventive in his time, he was the best for many many years, but his talent is nothing compared to todays musicians.
Most of Hendrix's stuff has the same feel to it. Either slower (Wind Cries Mary, Castles Made of Sand... sound very similar and the song structure is very similar) or the heavier sound (Purple Haze, Voodoo Chil').
He gets Kudo's for being able to sing and play complex parts, but Vai sings too while playing much more stunningly complex and completely tone filled songs.

Steve Vai is an amazing gutairist, and there's a bassist out there that's mind blowing, but I can't remember his name.
Jimi Hendrix was good for his time, but there's better talent out there now.
I honestly have to say one of the best musicians is Trent Reznor. Listen to the album "The Fragile". Then I'll let you in on the fact he created that entire album on his own.

Rgr. Trents pretty good. Although he doesn't excel in anyone field (Except for songwriting), he is a very very talented musician. The only person I could see who defies his versatility would be Mike Einzigher. He's able to play anything from punk, to country, to blues, to rock, to pseudo-metal, to funk very effectively and pulls each off well.
He may not solo much, but his songs are complex as is. No need to solo.
P.S. Any guitarist in NIN uses a Drop-D tuning, including Trent, but nothing wrong with that.
