Probably a lost of wasted money and bandwidth, at the very least. It still upsets me that YouTube (which is owned by Google) charges increasingly-exorbitant monthly fees for YouTube Premium, all just to get rid of most ads (in the way Google approves of, at least), yet either through incompetence or just plain disrespect for their own customers, ads still squeak through in one way or another. Meanwhile, Newgrounds no longer has ads, and only asks that more financially-independent adult users like me spare $3 a month to keep it that way--but they are not all that pushy about it for better or worse, due to the site being mostly frequented by broke teenagers or extremely casual users. The only annoying thing about this subscription is that it is the only way to access the "Subscriber Party" forum, basically the spiritual successor to the "General" forum, not that I ever liked the "General" forum myself or take advantage of that perk. I think you also get to upload more full-quality images in a single Art Portal post, but that's probably only important for comic artists, specifically.

Seriously, how is it that these multi-million dollar company-owned websites like X, YouTube and New York Times have to come up with countless paywalls, subscriptions and increasingly-intrusive ads and still operate at a huge loss, meanwhile Tom Fulp seems to get by just fine meekly and passively asking for $3 a month once in a blue moon? More importantly, why aren't other websites, at least equally-niche ones like the countless Twitter alternatives, stealing ideas from NG to make their own website more bearable and giving NG some much-needed competition? I want to enjoy other websites without them constantly fighting against my ad-blocker, too...

If we look at YouTube and Google's other projects, Newgrounds would be forced to cater to kids(even with the established age ratings).

• T or M would be removed to simplify things, ironically leading to more issues.
• NG mods would shift more T rated content to either E or A
• A rated media would either remain the same or be removed, since it's already age-gated
• NG would have an algorithm pick the front page submissions, leading to more people metagaming using current trends and ragebait
• All E rated media would be forced to be safe, and T rated media would flip between safe edgy and softcore porn
• Events on the homepage would be more basic, like celebrating current things or anniversaries
• A TikTok equivalent would be on the frontpage

But on the flipside, we'd get monetisation, an official app and be allowed to use copyrighted music.

It wouldn't matter though, since NG would be killed off within a decade.

You'd get an abomination so horrible, Tom Fulp would have to rip out the CEO's skull, just to avoid this fate.

Honestly if that happened it would probs be my 27th reason why. This place is like the last really good place for artists. I would list all the reasons why i would hate that but honestly just think of all the dumbass decisions DeviantArt has made as well as probably trying to force an Algorhythm that promotes pumping out art every week to get noticed at all and you got yourself a recipe for a shutdown in a year.

Honestly, this may be insane but i might rather go back to spending 3/4 of my day looking at the insane asylum that is Twitter to chance seeing some actually cool art than spending my days on an Algorhythm Powered AI Slop filled Newgrounds......which is why i quit DeviantArt lmao

• some weird kids section just like YouTube has,
• more content locked soo you would need to buy Newgrounds premium or something like that,
• no more porn,
• high chance people would go somewhere else and that would end in Google shutting down Newgrounds just like they shut every other thing that doesn't give them enough profit...

So I come to one specific conclusion:

They'd offer ad revenue and try to sell the idea that you can now become a professional content creator on NG or some crap, but then they'd constantly tweak ToS and scrape your content for even the tiniest sliver of a reason to demonetize you or place restrictions on cashing out.

Also they'd try to shoehorn a bunch of horrible AI crap on the site like an algorithm that'll make it impossible to discover new talent, and automated mod bots who'll interpret everything you say in the most un-charitable way possible.

Easiest way to get featured? Make a "Jimmy Fallon Talkshow funniest moments reanimated" video.

Then there will be 1 gazillion Jacksfilmses who vanish 20k SSSniperwolfs
