also, I think it can be used to tell stories that can resonate with older audience if the networks and executives didn't just decide to only use it to make family guy clones
Helluva boss is the best example of an adult cartoon done right that i can think of. Sure, it has a lot of violence and sex jokes in, but it tackles a lot of complex relationship issues and dark topics that wouldn't have the same effect if it was a kids cartoon.
