Hey Tom check out how they do it in the Canada's rating system, it might give you some ideas. I think if you just changed some things, you should be able to get away with it. It's just that you had it so close to the video game ones.

How about pictures of pico at different ages, like a baby for everyone, a young kid for teen, and an old man for adult. That sorta thing.

IV = adults?
Or how about switching the meanings of the taglines?

My God everytime someone wants to change NG you call them assholes or idiots or potheads or something if they really were that dumb they'd be out of a job and we wouldn't have to worry about what a video game is rated. I think they shouldn't worry about what we rate the flash here but seriously some of you act like they're going to sue us the first chance the get. they gave us a week. Instead of removing the ratings completely, why don't you add a notice saying that "any similarities to any other ratings systems are coincidential" or something like that to solve the confusion? That way, the user should be legally aware that the ESRB did not endorse NG's ratings system, and the similarities are coincidential. But, get a lawyer in case I'm wrong if you decide to do this.

ESRB thinks you've copied them. I think the've got it all screwed up; ANY dim-witted lug head (No Offense, Tom) can create his/her/it's own rating system. As a matter of fact, its one of the ways our brain stores information! It's were the whole classification idea came from in the FIRST PLACE, ESRB just took it and stuck a big ugly trademark symbol on it.
If you didn't notice, hardly anyone uses them anymore. ESRB is a corperation, Hell-Bent on one thing Only: M---O---N---E---Y!!!!!!!
Newgrounds is a free site, and there is no Mention anywhere that the rating provided are provided by ESRB, of any of it affiliates.
Only someone Incredibly stupid (Like the person at ESRB who though that Newgrounds copied something of theirs) would think that. And at least Newgrounds doesn't stick black and white boxes on games. There is NOTHING creative about ESRB's little ratings, but we have the good lookin ones. I say their jealous.
