Mind-numbingly tedious things you did for no real reason. Pointless time-wasting things you did in a game, like maxing out your level in a RPG. Why did you do them?

I can understand what you mean.

As long as you two had fun, keep shooting that wall.

Back when I had an actual GBA (AKA: The one with no backlight on it), I used to grind the living shit outta Crash Bandicoot: The Huge Adventure for extra lives. Apparently, the third level allows you to get 3+ lives per run.
Similar to Crash but for certain weapons & items, Borderlands 2 is where I grind for certain unique or high-rarity weapons & items on certain enemies & quests. I spent countless hours killing one guy for The Bee shield. If you don't know what that is, it's a very useful item where it has significantly increased damage for your guns (when it's full), and unlike other amplified shields (which is what The Bee is), it doesn't drain the shield at full capacity.

That is what I am talking about. Just doing the same thing over and over.

You understood this topic very well. Grinding is always a tedious thing.
My friends and I, in older games not sure what they were, we would shoot bullets everywhere just to see the bullet marks and how many we could make before they disappeared.
Back when I used to play Maplestory, I would spend most of my days killing thousands of monsters just to complete quests and level up.
All of the repetitiveness eventually got to me and I just can't get back into it anymore.
A truly prophetic sig...

What was the highest number of marks you made?

Maplestory can drag you in and hook you.

Glad to see that you got away from the addiction.

No idea, was a long time ago. We would shoot in a line so we had a general idea of how many bullets.

Did you race with the bullets to see who could get across the screen faster?

Nothing wrong with wanting to 100% a game. You have to get all the ammo and collectibles.
I used to play WoW and I would try to "discover" every area on the map. When Cataclysm came out it reset my shit and I had to start over. I stopped playing during Pandas.

Eve Online, scanning down wormhole chains.
It's one of the most tedious things you'll ever do in a game, but at the same time one of the most potentially heart-stopping.
I soft-resetted for about 3 or 4 hours just so I could get a Modest Squirtle in Pokemon X. This was only a few days ago, and it sucked
