If animals have genetic memory, what if we have it too? What if atleast some of the stuff we dream about are products of our genetic memory passed down by our ancestors?

That would be pretty odd, but if it could be harnessed, it would be very useful.

Those who do not learn from the mistakes of their past are doomed to repeat them.

If you dream that you die, do you die in real life?

You're thinking of The Matrix
I think it's also in paprika the anime that inspired inception...

no it's Dark City (an underrated low budget 90's sci-fi film that inspired The Matrix & Inception)

I'm pretty sure the idea was there before any movie with such motif.

Well there is nothing new under the sun...

But implying that some broad fundamental idea originates from some anime is, to put it mildly, inaccurate...

As far as I'm aware this is pseudoscience...
So where did it originate?

I for example didn't read it anywhere. It just came up on its own.

How can dreams be real if our lives don't mean anything

Entered thread expecting discussion of the possibility that human memory capability is at least in some part genetic. Instead I get - this - whatever this is.

As to the serious query which has somehow not been addressed, it might be possible there is some genetic factor for memory ability, but it's definitely far from a certainty. Plenty of examples of people who have good memory whose parents had shit memory or vica-versa. Although also plenty of examples of lineages of people with good memory.

I would say the personality is a large factor, as well as environment.

As to what has actually been discussed, you can't inherit memories. That's just not possible.
