Gary-X was entering the professional world and decided it was time to close down his account - that was over 11k posts right there. A few other users with big post records have had their accounts deleted in the past month as well.
With the passage of time, people become embarrassed by their forum activity or it becomes a liability. If everyone just acted normal we might not have these problems!
This is something I'm very aware of now that I'm in the games industry, this account has posts from my teen years that I'm not necessarily proud of, but said nonetheless. It seems the internet is very giddy on holding people accountable to things they said in the past under the assumption that the person can't or hasn't changed.
I doubt I'll ever ask that this account get deleted or my posts be removed, it's a nice view into how I've evolved as a person and it's quite hilarious to read some of my old posts and cringe at the grammar.
The point of it being a liability still raises a bit of fear into me, not because I'm particularly embarrassed by things I've said on here, but because others might bring them to employers and say "hey, look what he said!" Things like that can be damaging when no context is given, and it's usually too late to avoid leaving that employer before the full story comes out because the damage has been done.
