Thomas's Improvement Thread 2016-08-03 21:46:39

Ive posted alot of CnC-requesting threads in my time here on newgrounds. So i've decided to just have one "mega" thread where I will post my works.

--ABOUT ME--

I'm currently in grade 10 in high school. I am 15 years old, and I aspire to be an animator.
I have been drawing everyday for, well, a while and I was pointed to this forum as a way to improve.

------------------

Okay. Here is my first (really shitty quality) video I uploaded not too long ago here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4n1tSl3Mg4

I was having a rough day and felt I really wasnt improving.

----------------------------

And now, here is my new video:

https://youtu.be/bl7RYkNkzo0

Please give CnC. I will continue to post in this thread.

Hey man, everyone has a rough day once in a while.
The good thing is to share that, and move on.

Its very cool that you want to be an animator, not the classic choice, as most people nowadays want to work for games and films when it comes to art :)

I don't know enough about animation to help you on those tracks, but I do know a fairbit about gestures, proportions and anatomy.
If I where you, I'd try to start doing some studies in gestures and quickposes. It will help you alot in breathing life into you characters.
I made a little videos on some exercises that you can do to practice that. They are on my youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/beekartdotcom

I hope that might help a bit and give you something to practice. :)
Cheers man, looking forward to seeing you get better! .. As you are always improving, even if you feel you are standing still!

I think that the best thing to do at this stage is to work on one piece all the way, spend like 4 hours on it and post it here alone to be critique, your sketchbook videos are a good idea but I'm not sure we can see what you should improve on the most from quick sketches. So take the time to finish one image, it can be black and white, a character a background, anything. Just polish it to the extend of your abilities and post it here. Keep on working, it's great that you're posting, don't give up.

I iwll be dumping some online photos from the past. Theyre still similar to the skill level i am right now.

^^ It is an album. Some of them have dates, but I am honestly just looking for CnC on anything that could make them more proportionally accurate, anatomically corect, and more pleasing to look at. I look forward to responses! Thanks.
