My password can be cracked in about six years, which is more than long enough for one password to reign. I change my passwords for my essential stuff once a month at least. I couldn't give less of a shit if my NG were hacked into, so that has had the same password since I made it.

My most commonly used password would take a computer about 34,000 years. Secure enough...
another password I use when I don't care about security that much would take a computer about 54 milliseconds, lol.
However, the most simple way to make passwords uncrackable by brute force would be, if people who run websites with a login, simply would add a delay after each unsuccessful login. 1 second for the first try, 2 seconds after the second, 4 after the third and so on. By that time a real person would've clicked the "forgot my password" link anyway. But a bot would have to wait almost 9 minutes after the 10th try and almost a week after the 20th try. This makes any brute force attempts useless.
