It's all shits and giggles until someone giggles and shits.
Meditating can be divided into a few things. I was never any good at clearing my thoughts/thinking of "nothing", but I find keeping a journal can be pretty meditative as it lets me consciously process how the past couple of days have been and what my current thought process is.
Reading is good too, and people like well-spoken, thought-provoking individuals.

My mind races way too much for me to be able to meditate.

The description doesn't fit, if not a synonym of menace
Meditation, if I had to choose. Reading can be relaxing, but they do not ease my mind quite like a half hour of nothing. I would rather have a cooler head than a smarter one.
