This forum thread is a place for people to share ideas and WIP art. This challenge of the month has the biggest load of loot we've ever had in one so far!

The theme for the December Challenge of the Month is:
'Epic Santa'

DEADLINE:
December 25th 2015

THEME:
Create an epic depiction of Santa to celebrate Christmas.
Examples of 'Epic Santa':
- Santa as an action hero with an explosion behind him
- Santa riding an armored warhorse wielding gift-shooting guns
- Santa wrestling a bear in a pit off acid to save some children

Use your imagination, make it as dramatic, action packed and epic as you can!

HOW TO ENTER:
Upload your finished artwork to the Newgrounds.com Art Portal

TO ENTER THE OPEN CATEGORY:
TAG your artwork with the word 'EPICSANTA'
(That’s it! Scouted or unscouted, I will find your entry,
as long as you tag it with the exact word above)

TO ENTER THE BEGINNER CATEGORY:
TAG your artwork with the word 'B_EPICSANTA'

OPTIONAL: Share your entry on social media using the Hashtag #EPICSANTA

This is a worldwide competition - join the Arty Party, wherever you are, and whatever age you may be!

RULES:
- You may submit a maximum of 1 entry
- No pornographic material of any kind, violence must be PG13 and not too gruesome
- Your piece MUST be tagged correctly and be submitted by the deadline
- You may not submit a piece using stolen artwork or imagery

Looks like a cool concept. One question: Is his back turned to us or is his arm backwards? Looking forward to the outcome.

I submitted my art but it's not showing up under beginner unscouted and I used the tag b_ epicsanta did I miss something?

The arms, torso, head should face the viewer.
as you can see my perspection is suckish, since im more focused environment concept art instead on character/body proportion design. But don't worry i will be making plenty of changes. It is Work in progress after all.

Looks like you used b-epicsanta rather than b_epicsanta.

You never know, some people come up with the craziest ideas, it could have very well been done on purpose. That's why I asked. Good luck with the contest.

Hello Jazza and Newground artists !

I was told that Jazza's throwing an Epic event - which I wish to participate into . Already tagged my submission, BUT - before I go - I'd like to say that I already made those before I see the art challenge topic here. I hope this won't be a problem - but if so - let me know so I should withdraw.

I'm attaching my drawing here - although http://dawildnezz.newgrounds.com/ - recomended to use another submission.
I believe the one I'm attaching responds more to the requirements.

Still - good luck to everyone ! You cannot stop Christmas !

I like the sketch. I'd suggest maybe giving it a reason. Like maybe the background be things he's done or something like that. It reminds me of a movie poster stance.

I think it's just how good you think you are. If you enter the beginner category it should be easier for you to win, but you won't be able to get the best prices (which this month are more than awesome)

Maybe you could add some crazy reindeer or elves? and lasers? Firebreathing? Keep up the good work though!

I think I have a really good idea for this, but I have no idea how to draw this kinda stuff, curse me and my love of drawing up close people. I want there to be a full body santa and a sleigh and explosions and everything! Oh well I guess I will try!

Rough Preliminary sketch-
Christmas over Liverpool, 1940

It just so happens that this Christmas is the 75th anniversary of the Liverpool Blitz, a lesser-known bombing raid during WWII. Should be interesting to draw.

Really loving everyone's idea's there looking really good! I changed up my drawing some cause I'm a big story teller and I couldn't come up with a story with the old one. Below is my new sketch which I've started to outline. I know I'm not taking the typical "epic" approach but hope it works. Always love hearing feedback.

Cant decide if i want a sleigh or futuristic sky chopper with a secy ms clause on the back. Or a satanic rudolph. Or even make the sleigh look like a muscle car with huge quad exhaust.
