I remember having some time ago a thread about this but somehow got lost, many of those plugins got dropped from their producers list, some producers disappeared (from small ones like Phoenix In Flight, to big names like Camel Audio)... and so on, so I decided to remake the thread with updated info and hopefully many of you might find it useful.
Many freebies require to register, so I strongly advice to create a new e-mail address to use only for this purpose.
First post is about free guitar amp sims. Those are useful for guitarists (duh) but can bring more interest to your synths too or even help with dull and "too clean" drums. Usually on guitar you should run those as an insert, but on other instruments you can run in parallel on a send channel.
Guitar Rig PLAYER
A Marshal sim, 17 cabinets 13 effects, tuner, metronome, integrated MIDI Learn, 32 & 64 bit.
Comes as stand-alone, VST, Audio Units, ASIO, Core Audio, WASAPI, AAX Native (Pro Tools 10 or higher).

AmpliTube Custom Shop
Comes with 4 amps, 5 cabs, 3 mics, 2 rack effects, 9 stomps and a tuner. Mac/Win standalone and plug-in (AAX, RTAS, VST and AU) with native compatibility for 64-bit.

LePou Plugins
There are several amps and cabinet simulators, all very good. The builds focus on the amps, so it's less flashy than AmpliTube or Guitar Rig, no tuners, no stomps, no pretty pics of microphones, but very solid quality. 32 & 64 bit, Win & Mac versions. No stand-alone.

Amplion Free
Comes with one amp that looks like a Mesa Boogie and 2 cabinets with mic positioning. No specific cabinet of microphone. Mac/Win standalone and plug-in (RTAS, VST2 and AU).

Guitar amp 2 free edition
VERY IMPORTANT !!! When you install it read all the info and all the pages during installing, don't just click "next". It's a sponsored software, so, parts of the install packages will ask to install some crappy toolbars and other useless things. DON'T!
Beside this, the software is a fairly good amp sim, a bit heavy on CPU, but runs ok on decent computers. Windows only (sorry Mac guys).
Voxengo Boogex
Non specific amp + cabinet sim + EQ + reverb, featuring 61 built-in cabinet impulse responses and mono convolution processing (so you can load more specific IRs). Mac/Win plug-in (VST and AU). Sorry, no video found... will make maybe one day.
Freetortion Series
This is one of my favorites. For years I was using "California Sun" amp in my tracks, back when the company was named AuraPlug (now changed the name to Audiorammer).
Mac OS X AU/VST 32 & 64bit and Windows 32 & 64-bit VST. No stand-alone.

SimulAnalog Guitar Suite
It has 2 amps; Fender Twin 1969 and Marshall JCM900 Dual Reverb, and several classic pedals (Boss DS-1, Boss SD-1, Tube Screamer, Oberheim PS-1, Univox Univibe). Win VST only.
There is a version with GUI somewhere on the internet.

That's it for now. Happy shredding!
