New to drawing. Where to start? 2015-08-29 17:31:58

Ive been drawing for a while on and off, but everything i draw looks off. i switch from realism to manga to cartoons, which isnt that great i know, but i really need some guidance as to what i should be doing. i watch draw with jazza, sycra, mark crilley, FZD, and scott robertson. how ever i havent improved at all. please provide some websites forums or things i can do to improve. all is helpful. thank you.

You start with drawing basic 3D shapes. Cubes, spheres, rectangles, etc.
These are essential to drawing because they are used to help break down nearly anything into simple forms.
While this may not be an exciting suggestion I can't stress enough on how important it is to understand. So here's a video on it.

Constantly collecting multiple material to study from can be counter-productive. Put what you learn into practice and fail at it until you succeed.

Study, look at how things are presented either in real life or in films/photography and try to teach yourself how such a thing would work on a canvas.

Everyone has their own way on how to gitgud though, so shop around and find the method you're most comfortable with. There really is no right way about it so just continue drawing new and different things and anything you don't know or understand just check with some reference.

You should be doing what makes you happy. nothing else. if drawing makes you happy do so.
https://cubebrush.com and many videos on you tube about how to draw. practice, lines, first. how to hold the pencil or brush properly , how to use your body to balance and draw from the shoulder etc.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRmuGF0Kolw there are many videos like that..just be open there are tons. for free . or buy a book about it. there is nothing wrong about reading ! above all . be determined to do so. set a time everyday to practice. start with the foundations of drawing. then you´ll move on to other things like manga and styles. ( there is nothing wrong with them)

that is from square one... but you´ll have to do your own research too. you know? best of lucks!
