Are you sure? I looked it up and it has really bad reviews

They got bad reviews because they didn't know how to use them.

Also. How do you know what affordable is for the OP? He didn't specify his budget. And if he had half a brain, he could go to the wacom website and look at something in his price range. Buying stuff is literally the easiest thing there is.

If you had a brain, it is implied that he doesn't have money to throw around because he said affordable.

Anyways OP, I suggest starting out with a Bamoo or Intuos by Wacom. The Cintiq costs a pretty penny. Pictured are my Bamboo, Intuos 3, and Cintiq.

I know, I was just being an asshole.

I just got the Cintiq a few weeks ago. The other two I've had for a few years. And no you cannot have one.

my bamboo splash works fine i can make it work only a small area of the screen for more precision I got an older one from 2007 and i can use both of them as a midi controller but I still just like drawing on paper and scanning it in also

I recommend this one. It's the one I use and it's great.

By "great", I mean that it's of passable quality if you're a cheap bastard and/or only plan on drawing dicks with it like I do.

Don't expect miracles. Expect to trade like four Starbucks moca-crappaccinos for a tablet made using Chinese slave labor.

Wacom Bamboo Pen & Touch is an amazing model, definitely the best tablet for someone who doesn't want to spend loads on a tablet, I got mine for £70 or £80 and it is definitely worth the money. I would recommend the extra £10 for the "Pen & Touch" model since it seems to be superior allowing for better use of fingers than the normal Wacom Bamboo.

Anyone giving a Wacom Bamboo Touch a bad review is a complete idiot. This model of tablet has been famed online for years and still stands strong as a brilliant tablet for someone on a budget. Probably better than a lot of more expensive ones also.

The only possible problem people might complain about is the size of it, but drawing many pictures with it I have NEVER once wished it was bigger. The size fits my hands well and any bigger would be uncomfortable and not beneficial. If you need to move something further than it allows.....then lift the pen, move it back, and then continue. Just like using a mouse to move the pointer on a mousepad, you don't drag the mouse all the way across your desk, you keep it in the area you assign it to with the mousepad.

I have for many years now been using the Trust Slimline Design Tablet and I too have considered updating to a better one.

Unfortuantly cost is an issue as drawing is more a hobby for me (but will admit to drooling over the Wacon Cintiqs). Even though I have had no issues with my Trusty little tablet, if you can afford it go for the Wacom. I hear they have the best support for customers but if like me you are a penny pincher then either a cheap Wacom or trust for practice.

I did find it took some time to get use to drawing with a tablet as you have to look up at the screen instead of down but it is do-able. However if I could I would get a Pen Display Screen/Tablet so that you can draw straight on the screen, might be able to get away with a touch screen laptop with pen. But again it is down to how much are you willing to spend?

Cintiq is known to be the best, but it's p expensive. Like over $1000.

I started off with a bamboo and then ugraded to an intuos because of black friday sales. The intuos is much, much better.
