Why'd they fire you? Didn't you get them a ton of extra sales on stuff?
The short of it is, the loss-prevention manager made me take the fall for a destroyed employee bathroom door that literally every employee took a part in destroying.
The long of it is; Christmas season in mall retail sucks. So we would all frequently go into the back room and just take out our stresses, before emerging back on the sales floor reset, refreshed, and ready to rock. Somebody decided to take some of the hanging rack mounts and just start throwing them at the bathroom door which was across the room in the back storage space.
This escalated.
To the point where we were javelening poles into it, and almost making a game of it. By the time X-Mas season was over, it looked like a grenade went off in front of that door. There was even a large, clean hole punched through, so if you were taking a shit, you just had to turn your head to the right, and you'd see who was in the back room with you.
Loss Prevention guy came over for inspection a few months later, saw the door and he was fucking pissed. Since we all did some damage to it, we decided to blame it on the guy who quit in January. Sort of a "Dead Men Don't Talk" kind of agreement... my dumbass put in my written statement "I may have slammed or kicked the door a few times, but all of the visible damage was (the guy that quit)"
To the Loss Prevention guy, that was enough to pin the cost of damages on me, which the destruction of company property was a firable offense, so I got canned. Whoops!
