Hey dudes,

I'm still rather new to the idea of painting something up in Photoshop and tend to struggle with adding tones and shadowing to my artwork. I guess its more down to fact I prefer a hard edge to my drawings thanks to years of drawing anime and that. Here is a picture I've been working on for a day or so and wondered if you can give me any advice to really bring out the shades and tones.

Cheers

The most important thing when your adding tone to your picture when you’re starting out is not being to hesitant to add highlights or shadow. It’s a lot easier to dim a harder tone than to strengthen a lighter one.

It also helps if you have a sense of lights and shadows. Your can practice this by drawing stuff in real life and then trying to mimic the shadows and highlights.
