If I make an original character thats fleshed out and has a fanbase, I'll know I've TRULY MADE IT if somebody spent time on making good looking porn of them.

The more detail and craft that goes into the porn, the more flattered I would be because that means they liked it. The lazier the attempt, the less I care.

You take a show like "Star vs. the Forces of Evil"-- fairly new cartoon, cute-- garners a cult fanbase after 1 episode aired (as of the time of writing this edit), on Paheal's Rule 34, 2-3 pages of porn of it has been made, of varying quality. Probably fan art and fanfictions exist of it, too. Ships are inevitable.

I don't think fan-works are considered as ripping your stuff off, but I guess, y'know; if they make porn out of characters you've made just to elicit reactions and to gain popularity instead of because they like your work or care about it, that counts.
