We were much better 8 years ago though. i think we were like 1500 or something, or course the internet has exploded in the developing nations since then.

I imagine most sites like this one, where most of the visitors are students, is when they all have their dead time since they're all busy with summer. Usually those sites bounce back or close to come the fall and especially winter months.

Newgrounds was huge back in the early 2000s. Like others have mentioned most of the good animators moved to youtube for better promotion. Also, there were few free to play games and most people had dial up, so web based flash games were popular.
