More Fluid animations? 2014-08-18 13:32:15

Hey guys, I'm new to animating.
I've been drawing for a long time though.
Anyways that doesnt matter.

I've been working on animations on Flash CS5 and all my animations seem really choppy regardless of how many in betweens I put in. Then the time I have about 50 frames drawn some drawings seem to drastically change over time.

I've been using Oney's tutorials, Huha 2, and Spazkidin3D.

I'll take any help, tutorials and what not. I have this animation I made https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=weAsAlDu7FY
Or you can see it on my profile.

Thanks!

Is there a tutorial on how to work with better timing and spacing?

What do you mean by proper frames?

I'd say this gives a pretty clear explanation.

There's not really much need for an animation like that, but in general just think from the keyframes and the subject then move down to the fillerframes etc. When I say subject I mean the anatomy, structure etc that define how somebody watching the animation would imagine things moving. The guy in your animation is pretty much a marshmallow so it's not the best thing for critique. If you want to see how well done animation looks and is made I'd just check out the realtime work of Mike Inel on youtube or his streams.

look, you need to work on your art...if you art is bad...then the cartoon is not readable...before you can make things look more fluid you need to make the images look good...a ball won't really look bouncy if its misshaped...once you're art is better then you need to work on reaction force and physical movement in general...

I would recommend you read The Animators Survival Kit by Richard Williams. It's like the holy bible for animators. That book will answer all your questions about timing and spacing.
