Murder Mystery Game 2014-06-24 17:24:19

So im writing the script for my murder mystery game.
Its being made in unity. Just thought id post what I have first time posting here so forgive me if I have any errors. Theres also a piece of the environment

INT. DAYTIME. APARTMENT
The only thing dirtier than the room is the man passed out in
the middle of it.
The man is Det. Richard Dickerson “Dick” for short. A secondrate
detective who had the good fortune to be picked out of a
phonebook at random by a rich old man. A simple case of
infidelity allowed him a few too many years of whisky and
beer. Years he is going to regret at the drop of a letter.
A piece of post slides though the letter box. The loud clang
knocks the detective from his stupor. He groans and flails
his arms, sending whisky and beer bottles towards the wall.
The smashing glass alerts the detective, he’s more or less
awake.
He shambles towards the door and opens the letter.
THE LETTER SCROLLS DOWN THE SCREEN
LETTER
To my closest ally in the darkest
years of my life, if you are
reading this I have been murdered.
I would like you to solve the
riddle of who killed me. I know you
have a strong disdain for work so
I’ve gathered the most likely
suspects in my second summer home.
Believe me when I tell you the
killer is among them. I knew it was
only s matter of time before a man
of my wealth and renown had an
attempt on his life. In response to
this concern I’ve decided to use
myself as bait, although it may
seem paradoxical at first I assure
you given the recent diagnosis I’ve
received it’s a fairly logical step
to be taken away quickly and more
than likely by someone I love.
Thank you for taking the time to
read the letter.
PS, I’ve instructed the treasurer
of my estate to reward you with the
following upon completion of the
case.
Whisky, six casks of.
Monies, two hundred grand(s) of.
House, One of.
PPS, Don’t fuck me over.
The detective grabs his hat from the rack and shuffles out
the door. He gets in a car and drives off over the horizon.
Smoke bellowing out of the exhaust blocks out the sun. The
title appears over the smoke.
CUT TO:
EXT. DAYTIME. COUNTRYSIDE
Dick’s car pulls into the drive of a mansion in the middle of
nowhere. He gets out and the mansion door swings open. A
butler is in the doorway.
BUTLER
Detective Richard Dickerson I
presume.
DICK
Jeeves, I presume but please call
me dick.
BUTLER
With pleasure, dick. I’ve given
strict instructions, Your first
stop is the master bedroom. Up the
stairs and last door on the left,
dick.
DICK
That was one too many shit head.
Dick walks up the stairs and opens the first door to the
left. He takes one step into the room pivots and pukes into
the hallway.
DICK (CONT’D)
What the fuck is that
BUTLER
Your crime scene.
The old man Gordon Summer sits in his chair minus his head. A
shotgun is resting against the nub that used to be the mans
chin. Blood and brains coat one corner of the room
completely.
DICK
Jesus. Who the fuck leaves
something like that lying around?
BUTLER
Evidence Preservation, Dick.
DICK
Next time take a picture.
The butler closes the door and stands in the hallway.
2.
BUTLER
Nobody in the house is aware of
this except us two. The room was
locked and sealed immeditley upon
the discovery of the body.
DICK
Open er up and give me a second
look
BUTLER
Dinner is underway in the dining
room sir.
DICK
Thanks for telling me, I was
heading for the garage.
CUT TO:
INT.DINING ROOM
All the characters are spread out across the room. Dick opens
the door and is followed closely by the butler, the butler
stops dick and steps in front of him, facing the crowd.
BUTLER
Distinguished party guests I have
the great honor of introducing you
to the most regal grand duke of
versailles.
The butler turns to leave, dick grabs him by the collar and
pulls him in close.
DICK
How the fuck do I pass for frence
royality?
BUTLER
If they think you have money the
won’t question you.
DICK
With hopes of getting some?
BUTLER
No there just thick.
The butler breaks away and dick starts to mingle with the
party members.
The first man he approaches is small fat and balding.
DICK
Hey, ehhh... Slugger.
SLUGGER
You sound like my ex, always with
the name calling.
3.
They go at you for months but you
slip and knock them one in the face
once and it’s slugger for the rest
of your life.
DICK
You beat you’re ex?
SLUGGER
God no she’d kill me. One day we
were arguing on the street and a
fifty flys by her head and I
grabbed it.
DICK
You got the note?
SLUGGER
Oh yeah I got the note. Of course I
did, it was a fifty. I just
happened to clip her on the chin.
DICK
Hi I’m dick, Dick Richarson.
SLUGGER
Art Vandelay. Thanks for talking to
me but I have to go take some
medication.
DICK
Yeah sure.
GAIN CHARACTER ART VANDERLAY
Dick walks off and finds another character in the room to
talk too. He approaches a woman who is alone in the corner.
DICK (CONT’D)
Hi I’m
SHIRLEY MANSON
Dick
DICK
Yeah that’s me.
SHIRLEY MANSON
Oh, it’s your name. Manson, Shirley
Manson. That man at the bar is a
stone cold killer.
The camera starts to drift over.
Don’t look.
The camera snaps back into place.
DICK
I’m sure he’s a nice man.
4.
SLUGGER (CONT'D)
SHIRLEY MANSON
He was arrested for fucking and
killing two debt collectors.
DICK
What sort of scum did the old man
hang around with.
SHIRLEY MANSON
Scum like us. He married me for
christ sake, twice. Old idiot.
DICK
Well I’m very sorry for your loss.
SHIRLEY MANSON
I’m not.
DICK
The killer by the bar who is he?
SHIRLEY MANSON
He’s my next ex.
She walks away towards the bar. Dick follows and stands at
the other end of the bar trying to hear what there're saying.
Another woman slides a drink into the detectives hand, he
lets it sit on the bar.
DICK
Hi I’m
LAURA ALLRED
Dick, right? News travels fast in a
room this small.
DICK
And you’re?
LAURA ALLRED
Not available for integration
She walks off and Art Vandelay returns.
ART VANDELAY
So you met Laura.
DICK
I don’t know. Was that her?
ART VANDELAY
Sure was, the greatest ass to ever
walk these halls.
DICK
I don’t know , the butler has a
mean set of cheeks, maybe a close
second.
5.
Art starts lauging and decneds into a coughing fit.
ART VANDELAY
This country air does nothing for
me. I need more medication.
He walks away again.
DICK
Again really? Bring the medicine
down.
ART VANDELAY
Too much, take too long. I’ll be
back.
Dick looks over the bar, Shirley is gone leaving the killer
alone at the bar. Dick slides the drink along the bar to the
man, It bumps his arm and he downs it in one.
ALFREDO GARAVITO
Nice one.
DICK
So what brings you to these parts?
ALFREDO GARAVITO
Fuck off.
DICK
Sure.
Dicks walks away.
ART VANDELAY
Detective right?
DICK
No, I’m an architect.
ART VANDELAY
Really where did you study? New
west college of architectural and
design?
DICK
Sure did.
ART VANDELAY
No way that’s where I studied. Tell
me some of you’re lectures, did you
have Stepehen Boyds, a right old
prick was boyds?
DICK
Yep he sure was.
6.
ART VANDELAY
For a detective you’re a shit liar,
there’s no New West College For
architectural design.
DICK
I’m not a detective.
ART VANDELAY
Well you’re sure as shit not a
duke. Your card calls you a
detective, you here about the dead
old man on the second floor.
Dick panics and drags Art out of the room into the hall, he
takes the card from Art and flicks it at his head.
DICK
How did you get that?
ART VANDELAY
It was sitting in your bag doing
nothing so I took it.
DICK
Jesus, do you do this with
everybody you meet?
ART VANDELAY
Just the interesting people.
DICK
I’m flattered but stay away from my
stuff. This whole thing could be
fucked because you failed to use
disgression
ART VANDELAY
Walking around a bunch of strangers
asking questions isn’t exactly
discreet.

Wow, scripts do NOT format well here on newgrounds.

I can't even read that thing, it's so overwhelming!

Try uploading a pdf and linking it.

Also, what screenwriting software are you using? I like celtx, myself, it's got pretty much all the features of final draft (and before the last update, had some final draft didn't), and it's free!
