Thanks for the shoutout!

For any other animators out there interested in careers in game design, I definitely recommend participating in these jams. It's a great way to get to know that kind of workflow in a short timespan, plus you'll get exposed to an entirely new side of the Newgrounds audience.

I've had a lot of trouble coming up with any good game ideas, so I'm looking for a team.

I'm a musician, and I have a lot of experience with construct 2, so any writers/artists looking for a musician/programmer, hit me up!

Are we allowed to use the free version of Construct 2 for this contest? I know they don't want you using the free version for commercial purposes. Would this contest be considered "commercial purposes" since you can win money?

" If you make over $5000 revenue from your Construct 2 creations you will need to upgrade to the Business Edition License" - https://www.scirra.com/store/construct-2

I would not worry about it.

I would not worry about it.

"If you make any money at all you will need to upgrade to the Personal Edition License".

That said, since half the prizes are Personal/Business Licenses, with the latter licenses being bundled with the prize money I'll say it's kosher.

Look how the prizes are structured. Many of them are personal edition licenses, so they figured people will use the free version, win, and upgrade to the personal license. Any C2-user can benefit.

Yeah that makes sense. Thank you for answering my question and thanks to everyone else who answered as well.

Oh, I thought you were talking about the latest Ludum Dare. I guess there are simply so many of those things, it's not even noteworthy enough to make a thread about them.

Hello everyone,

I'm a developper and i have a very good experience with Construct2.
So if any artist want to join me, send me an MP !

I have some reflexions (scenari and game concepts etc..) around the theme which wait you !

Good luck to challengers !

Are there any resolution size requirements?

I almost forgot about voting on the April monthlies! You guys should have that be a notification on the main page rather than having to click to your account page (where I rarely go).

Anyway, here are my votes. I tried to primarily vote for stuff which wasn't really spotlighted but I doubt they'll place (minus bear and bunny boo & pico villain's boobs). OH WELL

***UPDATE*** Forgot to mention, you can work with a team! Also it would be awesome to see some artists from NG team up with people and provide some futuristic backdrops. Feel welcome to offer up your expertise in this thread!

That's good to know! I'll keep an eye out for someone who is great at making backdrops!

Not really, if you go over 910 wide it will break out of our layout but it will still work.

I have two questions, how long does it have to be and do we have to create a backstory?

Response to Construct2 Jam Theme & TB Thursday 2014-05-10 14:17:14

I have a question. You mention the theme is Future 2030; is it OK to create a game revolving around someone's life in the year 2030 but doesn't directly discuss the future itself. The story however does happen in the future -- would it be considered an OK entry then? Or wouldn't that work?

No requirements on length and no requirements on backstory!

Yeah, that is fine! The year can purely serve as a backdrop for your game, so you can get creative and thoughtful with how you envision the world 16 years from now. Focusing on someone's life is a great way to explore smaller details of the future, vs something like "War Against Sentient Robots" (although that is fine too if anyone is doing that).

Zipped.

So just to clarify, what is the best way to upload the game?
Do we give it to you directly to upload or.?
How should we publish it from Construct? As HTML 5 or for the Scirra Arcade?
When you publish for Arcade it does it as a Zip folder..

ZIP folder is correct - our upload form accepts ZIP files and expects to find an index.html in the root of the ZIP. You will be able to preview your game before publishing to make sure everything looks right.

Awesome. I've been playing around in C2 for a while, but I've never finished an actual game. This will be epic.

I don't recall seeing how the games will be judged. Will it be community based, a small group of judges, or just a single person?

Response to Construct2 Jam Theme & TB Thursday 2014-05-24 16:59:18

I'd very much like to work with someone/others on this game project. I've played around with Construct 2 enough to have a good feeling for it but also wouldn't mind helping out with the art side of everything; sprites, animation, backdrops, etc.

If anyone is willing to work with me or have me tag along I'm more than happy to be a part of this :)
