Drink warm tea, then find a boring book to read as you lay in bed. I also think white noise from a fan or air conditioner helps me fall asleep.

What I do on the nights I'm left lieing in bed, seemingly pouring over every detail of things I see/do, is go to sleep.
I don't know how to phrase it without sounding circular, but I realize that I'm not getting to sleep any easier by thinking so much, so I tell myself I'm going to sleep and will it. Not forcefully, but I make it so, imagining the motions of my body relaxing and whatnot. Try it and see if it helps. <3
