There wasn't much movement though.
Can't say anything about how you animate.

I was actually thinking of reviewing this when it was in the portal before it got blamed. You've got a decent, very watchable design style, what you need to is add some substance, some movement, an idea, sound etc and then you'll have a much better end result :)

It's recommended to use constructions for the characters. It's helpful and easier to produce more elaborate movements with than drawing in an unstructured manner.

I don't understand what are constructions, and I really want to know, to animate better. Could you please elaborate on it, or at least give a link to a source describing what it is?

Oh, now I see, thanks. Yes, it can help understand motion/positioning in 3D space, in fact, I think it's even necessary for 3D rotations of body-parts. It'll always help make the character appear less flat.
The only problem is that it clogs onion skin up with lots of excessive lines, so it may get hard to understand what am I seeing and what line needs to flow into what line during inbetweening. But that's not a problem, if the armature is drawn on a separate layer.
Thanks for taking the time to explain!

You seem like a very promising animator. That was just a bunch of small shots without any real story or substance to it so it's hard to say much at the moment but visually it looks like you have potential. I look forward to seeing what you accomplish with it in the future. :D

How do you make the animation move on its own? (I mean those tiny motion movements of the whole animation).

Response to My style 2013-11-27 06:42:25

Very simple, cut frames and paste them into a new empty graphical clip, then move the graphical clip instead.
Might as well do that in the very beginning, before starting the animation.
Or get a V-Cam (virtual camera). I have programmed a camera, I can give it to you and explain how to use it.

But all of these advices work only in Flash. I have no idea how to do that in Toon Boom.

Response to My style 2013-11-27 09:33:04

in toon boom you get a cam that you can just fuck it around lol

You created a cool character. Wish you made it do a walk cycle or a hopp or something though.

I like the style you have there. Maybe try getting some more reaction through the body, some squash and stretch - and look into anticipated action. Maybe have her react more strongly before her arms come up for the shrug?

Nice work though!

If you want to create your own style you need to create something unique. You can change your brushes, using different color harmonies, smaller or bigger mouths, eyes ears etc... You can also vary the complexity in your graphics (for instance drawing very complex backgrounds with very simplistic characters or maybe the complete opposite), there are a lot of ways to work on a particular style. When i see your animation I don't have the impression that you have a particular special style compared to the average animator.

Let's not try to define the meaning of phrase "My style".
But alright, let's.
Every person has a style. Styles of different people may match. Then those styles are same.
This person did not claim she invented her own style. He demonstrates her style, which may or may not be like some other style of some other person or a group of people.

I'm just trying to help her by giving some suggestion. I'm also being honest about my impressions when watching her movie. When i read "my style" i expected something I've never seen before. But of course it's still a bit unique, compared to madness movies etc she is doing great :)
