So, for those of you who don't know: The International Olympic Committee recently voted to get rid of Wrestling as a gold medal sport in the 2020 Olympics.

This is infuriating. The Olympics are going to get rid of the sport that literally EVERY country can participate in but keep stupid ones like Trampoline, Race Walking, Table Tennis (Dominated by China) and Judo (Dominated by Japan)?

Couldn't agree more, especially since each athlete can't really crossover (well) in to the other event, so they're obviously different enough.

There is actually a shocking decision. Its the sports like football and tennis that need cutting.

They actually have no place in the Olympics set up. Yes I would rather watch the poorest game of football than the greatest wrestling match but the Olympics should always be about the sports you don't see straight away when you turn your tv onto a sports channel, the sports that you don't know but find yourself loving during the Olympics then going to play/join once its all over. Not the ones we see all the damn time already.

And like I said I love tennis. Cannot get enough of the grand slams. But it doesn't belong at the Olympics. Neither does football and basketball now I remember that one. Popular sports played by professionals who get paid shit loads for it have no place at the Olympics.

What i don't get is that they're apparently keeping "Ribbon twirling" HOW THE FUCK IS THAT MORE DESERVING TO BE IN THE OLYMPICS THAN WRESTLING.

I'm not necessarily a fan of wrestling, but I agree they shouldn't throw the tradition out. There are plenty of other "sports" they could cut. Dressage comes to mind. The horse is doing the work, so I don't see how the people could be considered as competing.

The committee might also have grown frustrated that Greco-Roman wrestling did not include women

I agree, get rid of all of the equestrian events altogether, considering that the horse does all the work, and not the dumbass on the horse. Whoever thought up of this idea as an Olympic sport should've been bitchslapped out of the IOC. I would also consider getting rid of those floor exercises and most certainly get rid of that ribbon waving shit, which are all stupid as hell.

They need to bring baseball/softball back, a good number of countries play that game well, and that's a much better choice than any of the alternatives.

I don't watch the Olympics, but still, athletes strive to go.

And regarding football, softball, baseball, etc... They have their own championships and such.

Golf is the sport that really needs cutting. The only reason it's being added to the '16 and '20 games it that it can garner a crowd to watch like any of the Pro tours. I really don't care for wrestling but I do care about tradition and it's sad to see it being cut.

They need to add squash. That is all I have to add.

If they cut out Table Tennis and Judo I will be enraged. But wrestling? Nah, I have no emotional outbursts for such a sport. No kicks? No punches? No flips and shit? Where's the point of interest?
