I just finished beating Half-Life 2 again, and I realized I beat it in about 4 hours according to Steam, which must've been my fastest time. What's your fastest time, including getting achievements and finding lambdas?
I took my time when I ran through it, probably 40-50 hours at least. :/

this guy knows what he's talking about, hl2 is a mockery of the first one, at least to me, and i played the 2nd one before the first one. that being said, it took me around 20 hours to finish it.

Frankly, I was a little sceptical about the game as well when I started playing it (last Summer). As you advance through the game it gets better and better though and especially the last four chapters are awesome in my opinion. I would urge you to keep playing for a little bit longer if you really gave up on the game in the early stages already.
It took me about 17 hours to beat the game by the way, going through it at a moderate pace. I still haven't bothered with a second run yet.

Well, not only is it unfair to judge a long ass game based on 5 minutes but the first 20 minutes are one of the best openings to any game, ever haters agree on that. Pick up that fucking can.
When I play a game as immersive as Half life 2, I honestly couldn't care about the minutes to hours the game takes.
The OP asked a simple question and of course the same assholes that do this in every Valve thread have to change the subject about "how much HL sucks!!!111".
Anyways, I only remember my times for Blue Shift, Opposing Forces and HL2.
Blue Shift: 56 minutes
Opposing Forces: 1 hour 47 minutes
HL2: 6 hours 45 minutes lol

Seems like the 'official' record is 1 hour 36 minutes as of 2010. That's pretty fast...
