the reason i say college level calculus specifically was because i was in college for "computer sciences" and "network systems and administration"
and through all my math classes calculous seemed to be the only one with relevant math.

i think "smart" comes in a few forms but doesn't determine the quality of conversation you have with another person. If you're trying to relate with someone who doesn't have similar knowledge then maybe you're not that "smart" to begin with.
