Steam - No Conenction - Help

Hello. I have been searching for multiple answers to this, but I have not had any luck. Any help would be appreciated.

When I start up Steam, at the bottom of the screen it says "No Connection." I do not know what is going on. My internet connection is working perfectly. The only thing that I have done that would seem different is that I have also installed Steam on my laptop. But that wouldn't cause both Steam pages to say "No connection." Help?

This is happening to me as well. I suppose it's just a faulty glitch within Steam, because it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting me, all the while, it's switching between synchronization and connecting. There isnt even anything to synchronize.

the same thing has been happening to me as well. it will probably be fixed by tonight or tomorrow.

Same problem, just started today. Do yall think it may have something to do with the preload of Lead and Gold?

I figured it might have been something to do with Alien Swarm, but you could be right. Steam said that you can pre-download the game, so that could be causing some backups.

Double post, but also note that the current logged in users is just under 800,000 compared to the usual 1,000,000+ users online at any given moment, meaning that the current number of players in Alien Swarm may not be fully accurate, and I'm not too certain that the peak high is either. It may in fact be higher and is a large possible cause for the servers taking a dump on us in conjunction with users downloading LaG

I'm sure this has something to do with it. Steam has been acting up ever since.

Exactly. July 21, the day the preload of Lead and Gold went live and two days after the release of Alien Swarm, which has a recorded 60k users at one time playing. Like I said, I wouldn't be surprised if this number isn't accurately recorded seeing as steam's servers aren't right.
