I don't know why you guys are being so negative-ish about it. I think it was one of the most entertaining movies of this year (thus far).
OK well clearly the nerd-gets-hot-girl storyline was just terrible. I'm hesitant to say it was one long cliché as I know the automated response to that is that it's a satire. Whether or not it's a satire it was still a tedious storyline we've all heard/seen before. In this area there really was nothing entertaining or interesting.
Yeah I can agree that it was a bit standard and predictable. Although I did laugh a few times at how they continued with this main character being gay joke until right before the end. On top of that it was only a side-story, it didn't really play a major role in the movie.
As for the main story, I found that just OK. There were a couple of good action scenes (though I wasn't sure what reusing the soundtrack to 28 days later was all about), and the storyline was certainly more interesting.
Of course the story was no literary masterpiece, but these kind of comedy/parody/action movies you usually don't watch for the story. Or least I usually don't, and when it comes to simply entertaining the audience I think the movie succeeded very well.
The humour lacked again. I didn't find a 13 year old saying 'cunts' offensive like some, I just didn't find it funny. Other than I guess the humour was in the surrealism, but that's a bit trying.
I didn't actually pay any attention to that. I don't know if that was meant as a joke, probably just to shock and characterize the girl. Also I did find the surrealism funny in most scenes, but I guess that's just having a different sense of humor.
All opinions of course.
Fair enough :)
