This is a thread for all those who consider themselves to have a good and varied taste in music.

A little background info- I sometimes have to work a morning shift, which starts at 4.30am (horrible horrible shift to have) which means that I need to bike into work as I don't currently have a car, and it is too early for trains/ buses etc.

It is a cold and hard ride, and I like to listen to my ipod on the way. It was this morning, when I was almost finishing my journey, that I realised that I had listened to 6 songs all the way through which were 'just right' I know that sounds like some lame goldilocks shit, but it made my day start well and consiquently my day/ horrible shift was alright. I think that 6 is the perfect amount, it's about 20/25 minutes which is just enough to get you into the right zone.

Anyway, the point of my thread is to get you to recommend me 6 songs, a playlist, for me to listen to on the way to work - as I have 5 morning shifts in a row coming up and I shall be in need of some good tunes. I need them to be varied, and 'flow' well, because I would get sick of the same genre for a solid 20 mins. I think that is all, Go!

Well now, seeing as you haven't given us any idea of what sort of music you are into I shall carry on in my own taste.

1. Reckoner - Radiohead
2. Digital Bath - Deftones
3. Live From The Stage - Team Sleep
4. Burn My Shadow - UNKLE Feat. Ian Astbury
5. Ghosts 'n' Stuff - Deadmau5 (Feat. Rob Swire)
6. All Mine - Portishead

Crosstown Traffic- Jimi Hendrix
Ocean Breathes Salty- Modest Mouse
House of the Rising Sun- The Animals
Us and Them- Pink Floyd
No Distance Left to Run- Blur
The American Metaphysical Circus- The United States of America

Best I could come up with in like a minute. They have a decent flow I guess.

There's actually about 7 in here, but the fact remains it's varied. The only problem maybe the flow.

1. No woman No Cry - Bob Marley, or Three Little Birds - Bob Marley, or Redemption Song (Acoustic version) - Bob Marley. Bob Marley is just a great way to start off the morning, wakes you up slowly, gives a small smile. Easygoing on the ear, not too much noise, gets you in the zone. (Although I once smiled while listening to it in the middle of the street without realizing that I did, and people looks at me like I was a loon ><" )
2. Feelin' Groovy (the 59th street song) - Simon & Garfunkel. Just pure and innocent happiness. A little more "energetic".
3. A random song that you like, should wake you up though.
4. Funky Mission - Funk'N'Stein. I assume that you know this is Funk. Lyrics and Melody just makes you feel good. Also makes you feel like where you are going to is not a chore (4AM Shift? OUCH), like a cool mission.
5. Any song that you want by Mercedes Band. They actually sing in hebrew, so I'm not sure you'll like it, but they're awesome, and the hardcore funk really wakes you up.
6. Survive - Steve Vai (Sex & Religion, 1993) - Like a shot of andrelanin to the veins. Great song.

Hope that this is helpful :)

It would help if I knew what music you listened to, but I'll try to help.

First off, I'll post 2 playlists I have made before just so if you want to you can choose some songs from there (Best played on loop)
First, we have my playlist made about a year ago with 136 songs, it can be found here
link
Here is my 2nd one, the one I use for when I want to wake up or want to blow off some steam
link 2

Now, I'll post a playlist I made just for you
Fim's Playlist

Well, there you go. I tried

Tell me if you like it :D

Woah, I've got well more than a nice responce here, thank you.

I got a 4.30 tomorrow so I shall be going bed very soon.

Well now, seeing as you haven't given us any idea of what sort of music you are into I shall carry on in my own taste.

That's fine. Although I don't want to sound like on of them douches that say "I like every kind of music", it is kinda true, I like Grime, rock, indie, hip hop, dubstep, pop bullshit, grunge, alternative, goa, I've even got some traditional african shit on my ipod.

----

I still have PPPPFFFFFtttt 4 Morning shifts after this one, so I will need another playlist.

Can I quickly say that people can not recommend me a 10 minute song in their playlist, I need to listen to each song all the way through as that is the point, and the bike ride is only 20/25 minutes long give or take.

-----

People who link me, save me alot of time thank you

Either you are making a funnay, or you have a terrible taste in music.

Tomorrow morning I have decided to go with wtfyourface. Although there were a couple of very close contendors. If there isnt enough fresh interest tomorrow morning I will go with one of them.

sorry that didnt really make alot of sense. Basically, I have 4 mornings after tomorrow morning, so I will still need a couple more playlists :)

and I discounted wyf's first track becausr it was 10+ minutes, the other songs are long enough for it not to it to have an impact on my journey time.

Well, if you want variation:
1. America (The Highs And Lows) by Allen Ginsberg and The Trouble Lights (a poetry and music mix up that works well, a bit of a hard find but it works well personally, if you struggle a bit too much then I can send it across AIM or MSN).
2. Cloudy Now by Blackfield. Link. (If you can understand Hebrew then I recommend that version because the lyrics rhyme).
3. We Know Where You Sleep by The Paper Chase.
Link.
4. The Hellion/Electric Eye (Link) or Painkiller (Link) by Judas Priest (either one, or both).
5. Kilburn High Road by Flogging Molly. Link.
6. Chickenshit Conformist by Dead Kennedys. Link.

This too will pass.

Awesome. I'm glad there's enough familiar artists and variety in there. Tell me how well you like it.

"I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight" -- U2
"Chasing Pirates" -- Norah Jones
"Crawl Back In" -- Dead by Sunrise
"Hearts Burst Into Fire" -- Bullet for My Valentine
"Remember the Name" -- Fort Minor
"Supernatural Superserious" -- R.E.M.

Some songs by not-so-mainstream, and yet semi-well-known artists.
Hearts Burst Into Fire is one of my current favorite songs, so adding that was more my personal signature than a song for your playlist. But hey, at least I'm honest :)

CAKE - Going The Distance <-- Honestly, a perfect song to listen to while you're biking. No joke, check it out.
Arctic Monkeys - Leave Before The Lights Come On
Matt & Kim - Daylight <-- This will turn any bad thoughts you have completely around.
Everclear - I Want To Die A Beautiful Death
The Hush Sound - City Traffic Puzzle
Company of Thieves - Oscar Wilde

That's a list.
It was difficult, because I wanted to get uplifting songs from different bands. Problem is, some of the bands make specifically uplifting songs, some of them don't, and I didn't want to repeat the bands, mind you.

Bite me.

This too will pass.

Way more than six songs, but they're all good.
Kinda' the same genre, all are a bit psychedelic, but they very in the feeling, vocalists, instrumentals, and everything heavily.
