Alien Hominid Interview 2004-02-12 01:22:02

Synj and I were interviewed by GameZone for a piece about Alien Hominid. You can check out the article and see new, exclusive pics!

http://gamecube.gamezone.com/news/02_11_04_08_41PM.htm

If you check it tonight, you might notice the pictures are a bit over-compressed. They will be replaced with the proper pics in the morning, from what I am told.

What does everyone think? :)

I love the 2-D direction this game took. It's quite refreshing for fans like me of contra and shit.

I think its awesome for you and Synj and whoever else is on that to be able to release your own console game, but if I were you, I'd be sorta bitter that I missed the boat by a decade :/
Is there any place for 2d side-scrollers on big systems? Its an interesting question that is raised in the interview and that I hope we'll have an answer for afterwards. Hopefully you guys will do good.

If it was on GBA, it could probably rival some of the high-budget games, but as you stand now, you're kinda outmatched. Which makes your company name sort of ironic. And inspiring. Who knows :) If you get every "fat kid" and oldschool player on the net hooked on this kinda console game, maybe you can create a nice spot in the market for small developpers.

So agan, hoping you do well and bitch-slap Square-"eunix" for FFX. And maybe slap Eagames too for adding that "EA games challenge everything" female voice afer their intro in games. I hate that.

... good interview and good luck.

I like the voice-overs David Hayter does for EA.

Reminds me of Viewtiful Joe so it should be awsome, no?

Response to Alien Hominid Interview 2004-02-12 01:37:00

I can't wait to play this game on my own console :)

Response to Alien Hominid Interview 2004-02-12 01:41:29

It seems interesting at least. I admire that you have been this responsible and actually have made it this far. We all know about Pico 2, Tom. >=D

Actually I was wondering more on how this will affect NG.com. After the games release, will you be less involved here or something? Will you forget about good all NG.com and all its users?

Response to Alien Hominid Interview 2004-02-12 01:45:26

Oh yes, Glad to see you and Synj getting into the spirit of things...

Awesome interview dude, only one thing I noticed about it and that's either you forgot to answer or avoided the question about estimated gameplay time. How long do you think it's gonna be? Either way I don't really care, I'll still pick up a copy but I'm a curious lil bugger :P

Response to Alien Hominid Interview 2004-02-12 01:58:47

Has anyone else noticed how much Tom shys away from answering the questions, its either that or synj hogs all the attention for himself

Response to Alien Hominid Interview 2004-02-12 02:12:25

Sweet! Cant wait to it comes out...

Simply awsome. Alien Hominid is a great flash game Tom. You are a true role model to the people of newgrounds who program games and wish to see them hit the consoles. 2-D gaming will never die and I hope your game will not only bring it back into the lime light but also open the door for other Flash game designers to forfill their dream like this. Congrats on the progress. All of you here at Newgrounds better buy the game when it comes out!!

Response to Alien Hominid Interview 2004-02-12 02:16:11

That was a pretty hilarious and informative interview. You didn't do much talking though, Tom. I'm looking forward to the game more than ever though. You guys seem really confident.

Its interesting the article is on GameZone's GameCubeā„¢ subdomain... you'll have tough competition vs Viewtiful Joe on GCN, very tough indeed.

Response to Alien Hominid Interview 2004-02-12 03:51:01

What can I say? Its looking great and sounds great by the descriptions. Now I'm anticaptating the playable demo.

Good luck with everything, guys.
I hope you are planning a booth at E3 this year.

Response to Alien Hominid Interview 2004-02-12 05:57:57

I think this looks good but seriously you guys are so outmatched... And a bit overconfident too, i mean.... Well, it's probably bigger than Contra - Shattered soldier, but.... You're like 8 years late or something... yea

Well if the game appears in Sweden i'll buy a copy anyways, because i love ur work

Let me just say I played the NG version and LOVED it...you must have really put a lot of work and effort into this and I am sure that there are so many NG fans supporting you (like me). I didn't even hear about until last week..."what's that Alien?". Good work and best of luck...
