So does anyone know a free program that you can make music with, or do I have to record all the instruments in real life?

Guitar. Sax isn't the greatest versatile instrument genre wise. Although MIDI with with a wind controller it's great.
Piano would be a good idea as well.
I would say piano would be the #1 best instrument to learn, hands down. Cause then you just get a midi keyboard and congratulations, you can now play every instrument ever! (through your computer)
