long story short, i've been trying to play this and going by reviews and my own experience, it seems the medals are broken currently?

tbh it's not just the medals, as it seems to also not save progress even though it has a continue feature (unless i'm doing something wrong), so it's likely that the game itself broke over time.
could also be something related to specific browser used, as i've seen a few of those before, so i was wondering if anyone who's more well versed in these situations was willing to give it a try.
Yes that game has had broken medals for a long time. Pretty sure it's been reported before but you could add it to the broken medals thread if you like, and is generally the thread to do so.
The way it works is, only try to report medals that are actually unobtainable through any non-cheating means. So you have to try to rule out browser problems, configuration issues, whether and how you are playing Flash games (if it's a Flash game), if it is still possible to obtain medals through unintended (but non-cheating) means and so on. In other words in-game glitches or bug exploiting are allowed (if the game lets you do it), but external programs to manipulate games are not.
Also try to see if people are still obtaining the medals and who it is that obtained them. If people are still obtaining them, but you're not, it usually indicates those medals do not count as broken, per Newgrounds standards (the game is still bugged and unfair in medal awarding, however). Exception would be if the only people winning medals from it are cheaters (but try to have good evidence of this if you suspect it -- don't want to be accusing people who aren't cheating).
Things you must try are clearing cache and trying again, saving before medal obtain then reloading save then medal obtain (in cases the game has saves and they work), waiting around 5 or 10 minutes after medal obtain to see if it eventually goes through, trying on different browsers, trying on actual Flash plugin (or Newgrounds Player) if it's a Flash game and medals don't work on Ruffle (See my bottom of my signature for a method to get Flash plugin working), and so on. Also check in the game's menus (if it has any) as sometimes there is a medal resubmit functionality there (sometimes you must reload the game first, then use this).
Even if you give it your best effort, it's possible to be mistaken so no one's gonna shoot you if you are, but basically try to give it your best effort. And at least try to see if it's been reported recently (No you don't have to go all however many pages back through the whole thread, but if it's been reported in the past few pages and you report it, that kind of indicates someone who just isn't even trying.)
i also lowkey want to enlist the help of the community in trying to clear a different game that's just been sitting there by its lonesome in a long while, but i reckon i'll try to make its own separate thread for it when i feel like it.
gotta try making my own thread at least once
I don't think that's gonna go over well. That should probably be posted to the Video Games area of the forums (instead of this area) if you do decide to do it, regardless.
