Ksmittlez art thread 2009-03-14 18:17:06

I wasn't going to make one of these since alot of the stuff I've made isn't that good but I decided to try out something new and It turned out pretty well. There was no other place I could think to post it so I hiked up my britches and made my own art thread.

Heres the picture I'm talking about It took me almost 2 hours and I made it for my friend ella.

Time to take a break form drawing to post some of my first "art" pieces ever.
My art roots are in photography and graphic design so here is a poster I made for invisible children.

Note: This was never actualy used by the invisible children people its just something I did in my spare time.

Much cooler than the gimp ones!
Graphic design is awesome,I just wish I were creative(and good) enough to make something like that.

I dig you your impressionistic painterly style... remind me of something between van Gogh and Derain in particular. [Except with digital media!]

Minus your finished fire (my personal favorite of yours), they do seem kind of incomplete. I suppose its that there is a little bit too much blank negative space about them... if you know what I mean. It is completely up to you as to whether you choose to try this or not.

I don't really know what you mean...
Do you mean the spaces between the "brush strokes" or just around the pictures in general?

Well, usually by negative space it is meant by the space around your subject matter. (I apologize- I did not mean to say this of the elephant, as it has a background to speak of.)

I'm sorry if I may've confused you. [But, I think it may be interesting for you to see some of Derain's work.]

I like it. It plays with light alot, and if your screen is as crappy as mine, you can only barely make out the face.

Its cool lol. The reason a lot of my stuff is like is is becuase I can't really think of what to put in the background or I know what I want to put in the back ground but when I draw it in it doesn't look right. Haha I'm still developing my style so some things are hard for me to do.

Can you give me a link?

Oh, this is alright! Personal growth is an ongoing process- certainly you'll be able to nurture the skill in more ways in the future. (I think that a good environment for this is art courses, but it isn't the only one!)

Here's a link to Derain's work.

That was intentional. My idea for the project was to give people something bright and bold to focus on(the lense flare) but then also give them something more to see after that. Kind of like a picture within a picture if that makes sence.
