Internet Social Group Survey: Ng

Hello,

I am a university student who is conducting identical surveys on various internet social sites as part of a project for my Probability, Statistics & Data Collection class. I selected this topic because I'm interested to know whether certain types of people are drawn to certain types of internet social sites.

I would appreciate it if you would take the time to fill out my survey. It should take between 5 & 10 minutes to fill out.

After my survey closes on all sites, I will add a link to the results at the end of this post.

I filled it in. I did find the questions about the money a bit odd, not to mention a bit redundant, it's basically the same question "you find money (or valuable stuff), return it, yes/no?".

Also, for what it's wort, i'd probably would returns smaller sums of money, but wallets? Of course, there's more in them than jsut cash taht people need and might miss.

Good survey, but there was a problem.

The part about age does not include people of exactly 14 years old.
There is "under 14" and "15 to - whatever" but there isn't one for 14-year-olds, so I just put 15 -

I completed the survey. The one part that got me personally was the religion section. Officially, I'm a protestant Christian (I was christened in a methodist church I believe), but I don't practice my religion as might be expected in some cases. I read parts of the Bible now and then, but apart from that, I like to think most of my ideas are independant of religion. Anyway, good stuff. I'm a sucker for surveys for some reason.

See I said I'd take the money if a worker gave me $20, or if I found the $1000 that fell off the truck. Who's the victim? I wouldn't care a bit. But the persons wallet or the iPod, I'd give back without a thought.

Why are there only four possible answers for the wallet questions, instead of seven, which has supposedly the best number for answers like that by some sort of study that I vaguely remember from my psychology class however many years ago?

you got a few replies, but you should know that we normally don't allow surveys on the forum, due to the risk of +1postcount spawns that comes with it. users are directed to keep surveys to their blogs, where they also will be able to edit the post, and delete crappy replies.

this seem to be going OK so far, and it seem to have some kind of relevance to NG, so i'll let it live a while longer, but if this turns ugly - thread locks up.

also, don't bump your threads with a one word post like "bump", please. if you intend on posting on the forums, you should learn the BBS rules, just like eveyone else.

I actually learned why this is from my Statistics teacher, the reason why they ask multiple times is so they can target fake random-answer surveys so they can get a more accurate representation of the total population. So if you answered like a freaking idiot, the surveyer would be able to tell.

Anyway, I did the survey (truthfully) and I'm glad I could answer "Rarely" for the porn question.

About your religion questions: atheism and agnosticism are not religions. Also, you can be both an atheist and an agnostic at the same time. Just because I feel like it, I'd also like to mention that 'Christian' or 'Muslim' is not a religion. "Christianity' and 'Islam' on the other hand, are.

The "Would you, Wouldn't you?" questions could've involved more detail. For example, if I did find an iPod on a banch with the address on the back, do you mean laser engraved, or just stapled? If lasered, i would check how far the address is, and choose whether or not to keep it based on that. But if its just stapled, then that can be easily removed, and it depends how I feel that day. Everything is conditional.

I did the survey... usually I don't participate in surveys, but I had to do write a survey for people in our school to do about our art funding and such.
