I was looking at some old music topics and looking while I was banned for those 6 or so hours and I got a really great idea newgrounds, why don't we have a battle of the bands contest?
PURPOSE OF THIS THREAD:
Here will be how it works, every user can post ONCE in this thread.
You will browse through the first page or two of this thread(After that you can just look at the list in my blog which should be up by then.)
Anyway every user will write the name of three bands/artists that he/she likes, likewise:
1.) *Insert name here*
2.) *Insert name here*
3.) *Insert name here*
The 1.) will be the band/artist that you want to be in the most, the 2.) is the second most, etc.
Once one person writes a band/artist's name as their 1.) it will BY DEFAULT be added to the list of bands and artists in the battle, if the band/artist you put for 1.) is already there, your 2.) will be added, if that's there your 3.) and if thats already there as well then you don't get to chose a band/artist because you failed to read through this thread and that blog(Assuming this threads gets more than a few pages long.)
Please don't pick groups like Iron Maiden, the beatles, etc. for the simple reason they are so famous it wouldn't be fun, likewise don't pick bands that are so unfamous that NOT A SINGLE PERSON BUT YOU knows who they are.
Also, please don't pick groups like FOB, MCR, etc. Even if they are your favorite band(Ugh.) it still won't change the fact they will eliminated VERY quickly in the games!
And the band and artist that you absolutely can't post:
1.) Rick Roll/Astley - Obvious reason why.
2.) Muse --- For the simple fact sooooooooo many newgrounds users love the Muse they would win easily, so to give all other bands a chance they are banned from being in the game as well.
It can be any band/artist you want as long as you follow the above guidelines, at 3 PM EST today I shall update my blog with all the beginning candidates and bump this thread if so needed.
WHEN THE GAMES HAVE STARTED:
On Friday the 13th(March, this month) the submitting of new bands/artists will be officially closed and the games will begin!
Once that date happens this thread can be used as discussion for what bands/artists you personally think will win.
THAT is when the thread shall transform from a list thread to a discussion thread.
HOW THE GAMES WILL WORK:
On that same blog that will list all the candidates each band/artist will begin with 30 points, no exceptions.
Users will post comments, to BLAM one band/artist and to PROTECT one band/artist. (No Or, you must do BOTH.)
Every time a band/artist is blamed there points will decrease by one point, likewise each time a band/artist is protected its points will increase via one point.
THE LAYOUT FOR COMMENTS:
"PROTECT: *Insert band/artist you are protecting here*
BLAM: *Insert band/artist you are blaming here*
*Additional notes, questions, comments, etc. here*"
To keep people from cheating the system you must post both a protect and a blam, not two protects, two blams or only one of either.
And to keep people from spamming their votes each user will only be allowed one blam and protect a day per comment, no exceptions.
*SO YOU CAN BLAM AND PROTECT THE SAME TWO BANDS/ARTISTS EVERY DAY IF YOU CHOSE TO*
Once a band/artist has 0 points left the band/artist will automatically be removed and cannot be saved from that point onwards.
If an account appears to be an alt that account will be banned and the vote will not be counted, but only if I am positive it's an alt.
Lastly, have fun with your band/artist postings it can be any band/artist you want, whether they are still together or long disbanded and no matter what genre whether it be blues, country, rap, indie, death metal, power metal, classical, etc.
