Nope done at 0101(Hawaiin) Just want to say thanks to everyone who was there so instead of 1 hr a page it jumped done to 30 minutes and then only about 5 per. So anyway we can find out who the last vote was?
Cause I think I might a been in the running.

Somehow, there is something in me more sad than happy to see the list disappear. I guess something will fill the void left, some other NG inspired time waster, some BBS thread worth checking on a regular basis. I figured I'd assemble a bit of a chronology:

09/02/03- After constant resubmission under several different names "Beat up the Jugs" is force protected by NG Staff to make a point about what NG shouldl be. http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view.php?id=120410

09/03/03- "Beat up the Jugs" wins Turd of the Week, starting a firestom in the forums over what can be done about the voting system.

09/04-5/03- The portal goes crazy as movies with under 200 votes suddenly reappear under judgement. The problem is righted and movies with under 125 votes appear on the portal listing. It becomes very apparent that it will take a long time to get all movies up to the desired threshhold.

09/05/03- This thread is created by gfoxcook for those who want to vote on movies beyond the portal listing.

09/05/03- A precursor to the temp list is created.

09/06/03- The templist as we more or less know it is created. Movies are listed most votes first and list does not exist in real time. Lsit goes real time by the end of the day.

09/08/03- gfoxcook predicts the list will take 5 months to clear. The estimate would probably have been accurate if not for the autovoting bots appearing on 09/12/04.

09/11/03- gfoxcook presents an analysis of voting trends focusing on the top of the list. First documented raising of the floor to 127. Incoming flash later start new floors in the 12X range.

09/12/03- TheJoe admits to voting on only a few hundred movies before getting tired and going to sleep, a rare event not likely to occur in the future.

09/20/03- The floor reaches 130.

09/22/03- The floor reaches 132. Sekky suggests the use of ghostmouse. A small number to under 200 movies appear on the main portal list.

09/24/03- alhill suggests an adopt a number program that fails to abtain many adherents.

09/28/03- The floor reaches 133.

09/29/03- The templist reverses so the floor number appears on page 1.

10/02/03- gfoxcook posts an impressive 3 post rant answering critics of his wishful desires for the temp list and explanations of what is happening.

10/10/03- The floor reaches 137.

10/11/03- The floor reaches 138.

10/13/03- The floor reaches 140.

10/27/03- Votes needed figure is added to the templist.

10/29/03- The floor reaches 145.

11/03/03- liljim offers to make the new underjudgement number 150 once floor reaches that point, helping remove the underbrush problem. The list movies with X votes option is added.

11/08/03- The floor reaches 149 and 150.

11/09/03- The checkpoint is moved to 150 votes.

11/19/03- The floor reaches 151.

11/20/03- Wade makes first help vote on the templist news post (not counting the initial request for Voters needed).
http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic.php?id=97220
http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic.php?id=85653

11/21/03- The floor reaches 153.

11/25/03- The floor reaches 155.

11/31-12/7/03- no posts are made on the 200 Votes topic.

12/08/03- The floor reaches 160 and 161.

12/10/03- The floor reaches 162.

12/11/03- The floor reaches 163.

12/14/03- The floor reaches 164.

12/21/03- The floor reaches 165.

12/22/03- The floor reaches 167.

12/23/03- The floor reaches 168.

12/24/03- The floor reaches 169. TheJoe predicts voting will be completed in January.

12/25/03- The floor reaches 170.

12/26/03- The floor reaches 171.

12/27/03- The floor reaches 172.

12/28/03- The floor reaches 173.

12/29/03- The floor reaches 174.

12/31/03- The floor reaches 175.

01/01/04- The floor reaches 176.

01/02/04- The floor reaches 177.

01/03/04- The floor reaches 178.

01/04/04- The floor reaches 179.

01/05/04- The floor reaches 180.

01/07/04- The floor reaches 181. For the first time in almost 3 weeks someone other than TheJoe makes the announcement (TooCool100).

01/08/04- The floor reaches 182. TheJoe again makes the annoucement. Wade makes another newspost at TooCool100's request.

01/09/04- The floor reaches 183.

01/10/04- Tom makes news post encouraging votes on the templist.

01/11/04- The floor reaches 185.

01/12/04- The floor reaches 186 then a auto vote program disseminated by JesusCyborg goes apeshit on the list raising the floor to 191 and shortly after human voters push it to 192.

01/14/04- The floor reaches 193.

01/15/04- The floor reaches 194 and 195.

01/16/04- 6:01 a.m. the death of the templist. Tom posts an official news post regarding the death. The regular voters are both pleased and deeply saddened.

I remember some dark times and some good times. There were a couple of times when I didn't think we'd get done at all, particularly in the early 140's and the early 150's. The big turning point seemed to be when liljim changed the vote number to 150 and when he made the upgrade that allowed you to go to a certain number. Other good changes including having entries from the list go back to the portal and having the random portal entry only give you sub-200 entries.

The big key was finally getting Mr. Fulp to repeatedly post on the front page about it. That brought in a lot of extra voters. Honestly, it would have helped if the announcements had come sooner.

Also, Sekky's suggestion about using Opera made a huge difference. I cast about 80-90K votes total. Using Opera, I increased my productivity by about 200%. I went from being able to do 500-1000 in a day to being able to do 2-3K in a day.

It was great seeing the list conquered, although must say I missed the day when there were really only 10-15 of us working on it. I appreciated everyone's help at the end, but it felt different when there were dozens of people working on it than when there were just a few of us single-handedly raising the floor.

Lastly, I would like to brag a little bit for coining the terms "floor number" and "underbrush". Adopt-a-number was a good idea, but as pointed out above, it never caught on.

Anyway, this was fun in a weird way to take some seemingly insurmountable task and to slowly conquer it. I enjoyed sitting at my computer and voting repeatedly. It was relaxing; maybe I'm just a little strange.

Farewell.

Yeah, those were good times. When it was only the few of us doing anything. With every news post, there would be a small surge of other voters, but in a day or so it would go back to the few of us again.

You think we could have stopped it from happening, even if we'd tried? With the possible exception of Joe's 3500 votes after midnight, there was no sizeable amount of voting done by just the people in this thread. Tons and tons of people, who'd seen Tom's numerous topics about this, had been helping all night long. The 198s were becoming 199s so fast that I had to vote a page or two back to avoid finding out movies were already at 200 by the time I got to them.

So anyway, I'm sorry you (and a few others) missed out, but it was similar to a waterfall. You could paddle away from it a bit to gain a bit of time or paddle towards it to get it over with, but there was no way you were going to stop it.

I think you misinterp'ed that area a bit. I didn't have any wishful desires for the list personally, I was defending liljim's reversal of the templist without consulting us.

10/27/03- Votes needed figure is added to the templist.

okay, okay... with the possible exceptionS of Joe and alhill's multi-thousand votes, there was no way we could have stopped the inevitable rush towards the templist being cleared, even had we known that Sekky and others would later be upset that it happened without them...

There. I'm trying to tell it like it is and point out that there were too many people voting at the end to have somehow stopped it, man. If you keep finding people who, along with yourself, did 1000s of votes, my point is going to be diluted and Sekky's gonna get pissed off again. #;-}>

Looks like it. In some ways, it should probably be locked, but I can't lock it anyway, and... while we could talk about old times on the templist in level up!, it wouldn't make much sense to dilute the conversations there.

So.... while the templist is dead... even if this topic withers and becomes completely inactive... it will still remain as a testament to the struggle.. the process.. and the victory. :::nods pseudosolemnly:::

Anywho. Goodbye, ol' 200 vote topic. Now that you're semi-dead-approaching-fully-dead, perhaps the top 50 blam list will pass you and reclaim its place as my second biggest topic ever (after the top 50 saves, of course).
