This is sad, but I know very very little about Sweden, or its culture.
However, any national holiday is a cause to be happy, so happy whatever-it-is-you're-celebrating-day to all you Swedes out there! =)

Personally I get annoyed when people try to identify with me via statements like 'by Crikey!' or 'throw another shrimp on the barbie!'. It does seem to be a perceived part of Australian culture, but I still can't help but feel patronised =/

Not necessarily, some of my favourite bands (Rhapsody, Pink Floyd, Rammstein...) are actually European. I haven't heard much Swedish music though, can you recommend some bands?

The Hives, Millencolin...... ABBA.
They seem to be pumping out a lot of good techno dance beats recently, chuck on Triple J and every 10th song is Swedish.

As a Finn, I constantly get reminded that Sweden is a better country than us. In fact, it's probably the best country in the world and there's nothing I can do about it. They're the happiest people in the world with a low unemplyoment rate and they always win everything. Well, we won the Eurovision this time, but Sweden has won it 4 times. Plus, I'd gladly change the Eurovision victory for the Olympic Gold Medal and World Championship at ice hockey, which they won this year, and a chance to play at the FIFA world cup, which they will also probably win :(
